Since I've been on City Council for the past 8 years, less than 10 people have ever come to a city council meeting. We would LOVE to have anyone and everyone! You have a great city council who knows the issues we face and work hard at doing what's best for everyone as we can! We live here too! We are working on some things that we can't discuss publicly yet but will pan out in the next 6-8 weeks that will help us SO much! Please feel free to come to a city council meeting and complain about an issue we ALL want fixed! Or do a bigger thing and come to a city council meeting regularly so you stay informed and can help us make Devers better!

DISCOLORED WATER
As most of you know, the city does not have its own water/sewer operator. Because of that, we use Innovative Utilities to monitor the plants and file all the required TCEQ reports. We continue to search for an operator we can hire, but that hasn’t worked out just yet. (If you know of anyone with the proper licenses, have them stop by city hall). We’ve been talking with Innovative for a while now to resolve the water discolor issue, and this is what we were told today: “We had a clog on the poly line yesterday, and the poly level dropped significantly. But when you introduce poly to the lines again, it will cause the iron and manganese to come off the pipe and cause discolored water.” We were told the water is safe to drink, and that it will clear up in a day or two. They are flushing all the lines now to hopefully speed up the clearing.

PAST DUE WATER/SEWER BILLS
Disconnect notices are going out today. Pay off your past due account by 5pm on Wednesday, June 3rd. Water will be shut off on Thursday morning, June 4th.

Our new city secretary will begin normal, full time hours next week. As this week is a transition week, the hours someone is at city hall will be irregular. You can make a payment by placing it in the night deposit as many folks do or wait til next week (No water will be shut off during this transition period). If you have a water or sewer issue, please call the city cell phone (936 334 4496). Thank you for your patience and understanding as we get new personnel in place.

Aspen Company ("installing" the fiber optic line for Highline) hit yet another water line down Rice Belt. We called in line locates but have to wait 2 hours before we can actually fix it. Hopefully soon! We are SO looking forward to when they aren't costing the city thousands and thousands of dollars....Glad Highline is profiting from this because we aren't!
