Dexter residents and surrounding areas, as you are already experiencing a cold front that has already struck the Dexter area please be careful throughout this weekend and first part of next week. The weather is going to get much worse into this evening. Please plan accordingly and check on your family members and neighbors, this includes not leaving pets outside (please bring them inside).

Please take time to read below.

Stay safe and don't underestimate this weekend's weather.

Thank you, Chief Kevin Wintle

Good Saturday morning,

Bitter cold Arctic air will combine with gusty northwesterly winds today to produce dangerously cold wind chills from the 30s below zero north to the 20s below zero south. Dress in layers and wear a hat that protects your face and neck from the cold.

The bitter cold weather will continue tonight and Sunday although winds will ease off a bit.

A large area of low pressure tracking to our south will spread snow from south to north across the area Sunday night. The snow will continue through Monday. The heaviest snow is expected Downeast where over a foot is possible. The north will have light to moderate snow. This will be a cold dry powdery snow even down to the coast.

Tuesday and Wednesday will be very cold, but not quite as cold as this weekend with a partly sunny sky.

Temperatures will moderate closer to normal highs of 20 north and mid 20s south at the end of the week.

The Dexter Police Department would like to wish all of you a happy and safe holiday season. We encourage everyone to be safe and value each other, and as we've had numerous days of cold temperatures please check in on your neighbors. One thing I can say about Dexter throughout the years is we have a very caring and beautiful town, and let's make it better moving forward into 2026.

In the past couple three weeks the police department has received numerous support of holiday cards from our great citizens and different police agencies across the state of Maine. We would also like to thank everyone that made 2025 a success, and we could not have done it without you. Remember today is a very magical day and like we always say please be Kind to each other. Merry Christmas to all. πŸŽ…β˜ƒοΈπŸŽ„
