DBHS Zero period Advanced Digital Video Production and PCA Sophormore students, recently culminated their LACOE and CDOL collaborative experience by attending the Directing Change Awards Ceremony at the United Theatre in Los Angeles.
Starting in February, students began a wonderful opportunity with ArtsMatter and the Center of Distance & Online Learning, by collaborating together on creating a compelling work for the Directing Change Program and Film Contest!

“Los Angeles County’s Office of Education’s Center for Distance & Online Learning (CDOL) provides educators, support staff, counselors, school mental health professionals, students, families, and non-profit agencies with a unique combination of technology enhanced Collective Impact Implementation services via in-person, hybrid, and online learning opportunities.”
During this process, students utilized their skillsets alongside industry professionals in creating a stop motion animation for - “The Directing Change Film Contest for young people ages twelve to twenty five that want to combine creative expression with making a difference in their communities by creating stories about mental health and other topics that matter.”
After the completion of their project, students were invited as red carpet attendees of the CDOL Student Empowerment Conference at AMC Universal City Walk, along with backstage entry to Universal Studios Hollywood. During the conference, students were able to hear from creative professionals and educators, about the importance of resilience, individuality, and healthy practices.
Concluding, several of our students who participated in the program, noted below, were recognized for their exemplary artisit vision and voice for change and understanding.
