Thank you to El Dorado County Sheriff's Office and Echo 1 and their crew for seeing this girl in distress and taking the time and resources to safely get her out of the river. She was cold, scared, and in a very dangerous situation.

She is now safe and warm with us at El Dorado County Animal Services. We’re so grateful you stopped, made the rescue, and got her to safety. Incredible work and dedication supporting our community and communities animals!

🐾🖤 Meet Lottie 🖤🐾

At just 1 year old, Lottie is the perfect mix of sweet, playful, and wonderfully mellow. This beautiful black and brown American Pit Bull Terrier mix has a gentle little soul and a whole lot of love waiting for her forever family. ❤️

Lottie is an incredibly affectionate girl who absolutely loves being close to her people. She has a sweet, submissive nature and is happiest when she knows she’s safe, loved, and included. Give her some affection and you’ll quickly see just how much this girl enjoys soaking up the love. 🥹

But one of Lottie’s very favorite activities?

🌿 Sniffaris!

Give this girl a yard and some time to explore, and she’s in heaven. Lottie loves leisurely wandering around, following interesting smells, investigating every corner, and taking in the world one sniff at a time. 🐾👃 There’s no need to rush—Lottie knows the best adventures sometimes happen at nose level!

She has a playful side too, but she isn’t constantly bouncing off the walls. Lottie has a wonderful ability to enjoy herself and then settle down, making her a lovely combination of fun and easygoing.

✨ A little about Lottie:

🖤 1 year old & spayed
❤️ Incredibly sweet and affectionate
🐾 Gentle & submissive
🎾 Playful without being overwhelming
🛋️ Mellow and easygoing
🌿 Professional sniffari enthusiast
🥰 Loves attention and being with her people

At only a year old, Lottie has her entire life ahead of her. She’s ready for backyard sniffaris, adventures, playtime, lazy afternoons, cuddles, and most importantly—a family of her very own. 🏡

She doesn’t need anything extravagant. Give her some grass to explore, people to love, a comfortable place to curl up, and the security of knowing she finally belongs.

In return, you’ll get one very sweet little shadow who will happily sniff her way through life right beside you. 🥹❤️

Come meet Lottie and see if this gentle girl is the missing piece of your family. 🐾🖤🏡

🐾🤎 Meet Chewy 🤎🐾

At just 7 months old, Chewy is already proving himself to be one seriously good boy. ❤️

Chewy is a handsome neutered Siberian Husky/German Shepherd mix with a beautiful tan and black coat, a sweet personality, and just the right amount of puppy energy.

This young guy loves to play, loves being outside, and is always ready to join in on whatever adventure you have planned. 🌲🎾 He has plenty of energy to keep up with an active family, but he’s not bouncing-off-the-walls crazy. Give him some exercise, playtime, mental stimulation, and attention, and Chewy is a pretty happy guy!

At only 7 months old, Chewy is still very much a youngster, which means his future family has an amazing opportunity to continue shaping him into the incredible adult dog he’s already well on his way to becoming. 🐾

He’s sweet, fun, affectionate, and genuinely just an all-around good dog.

✨ A little about Chewy:

🤎 Super sweet
🎾 Loves to play
🌲 Loves being outside
🐾 Fun, manageable puppy energy
🐶 Dog selective
❤️ An all-around great young dog
🏡 Ready to grow up with his forever family

Chewy can be selective about his canine friends, so introductions with any resident dogs should be done thoughtfully to make sure everyone is a good match. He doesn’t need to love every dog he meets—he just needs the right people and, if applicable, the right canine companion.

And with Husky AND German Shepherd in the mix, Chewy has two intelligent, active breeds behind that adorable face. 🧠 He’ll thrive with a family who keeps him involved, continues his training and socialization, and gives him plenty of opportunities to exercise both his body and his brain.

Chewy is at such a great age—young enough to grow and learn alongside his new family, but already showing what a wonderful dog he can be.

He’s ready for hikes, backyard adventures, toys, training, exploring, and all the memories that come with growing up beside your best friend. 🌲❤️

If you’re looking for a sweet, playful young dog with a great personality and so much potential, come meet Chewy. He may just be the missing piece of your family. 🏡🐾🤎

🐾🤍 Meet Olaf 🤍🐾

Some dogs need a home where they can simply settle in and be loved. Olaf needs a home that will show him just how wonderful being a dog can be. ❤️

Olaf is a handsome white Pit Bull Terrier mix, estimated to be between 2–5 years old, with an incredibly gentle spirit and one of the sweetest personalities you could ask for.

This boy absolutely craves affection and human connection. 🥹 If you’re sitting down, Olaf wants to be beside you. If you’re walking somewhere, he’d happily follow along. He isn’t asking for much—he just wants to know that he belongs to someone.

Olaf is wonderfully mellow, gentle, and affectionate. He already knows some basic commands, but he still has some learning to do. More than traditional training, though, Olaf needs someone willing to teach him how to simply be a dog.

Right now, he doesn’t really seem to understand how to play. Toys and games are still a bit of a mystery to him—but rather than being frightened by new experiences, Olaf simply seems unsure of what he’s supposed to do. With patience, encouragement, and a loving person beside him, we would love to see him discover all those little joys he may have never had the opportunity to experience before. 🧸🎾

Imagine being the person who gets to show him his first favorite toy, teach him how much fun a game of fetch can be, or watch him discover that being silly is allowed. ❤️

✨ A little about Olaf:

🤍 Incredibly sweet & gentle
🥰 Craves affection and attention
🛋️ Mellow and happiest beside his people
🎓 Knows some basic commands
🌱 Would benefit from continued training and guidance
🐶 Likes other dogs
🐱 Cats are currently unknown
🧸 Still learning how to play and enjoy being a dog
❤️ Looking for an exceptionally loving home

Olaf doesn’t need someone expecting a perfectly polished dog on day one. He needs someone patient enough to teach him, loving enough to encourage him, and committed enough to let him blossom at his own pace.

There is so much sweetness in this boy. He wants connection. He wants companionship. He wants to be close. And once he realizes that he finally has a person who isn’t going anywhere, we have a feeling an entirely new side of Olaf is going to emerge. 🥹

Olaf deserves the kind of home where affection is endless, soft places to sleep are plentiful, and being somebody’s shadow is completely encouraged. 🏡🤍

If you’re looking for a mellow, gentle companion who would be perfectly content simply being right by your side, please come meet Olaf.

He’s ready to learn what being a beloved family dog is all about. 🐾❤️

🐾🤎 Meet Freya 🤎🐾

2-Year-Old Anatolian Shepherd Mix | Gentle, Soulful & Absolutely Lovely

Freya has the most soulful eyes—the kind that seem to look straight into your heart. 🥹❤️

This beautiful 2-year-old Anatolian Shepherd mix has quietly captured the hearts of everyone who has had the privilege of getting to know her. There’s just something about Freya. She doesn’t need to demand your attention—somehow, she simply has it.

Freya came to the shelter with Gus and her puppies, and from the very beginning, she showed us just how special she is. She was an incredible mother, caring for her babies with patience, gentleness, and devotion. 🐾 Watching her raise them gave us a glimpse into the wonderfully nurturing, loving dog she truly is.

Now that her babies are growing up, it’s finally Freya’s turn to be cared for. 🏡💕

Freya is kind, soft, incredibly sweet, and wonderfully chill. She has a gentle presence and an easygoing personality that makes spending time with her feel effortless. She isn’t looking for constant excitement or chaos—she simply wants to be near her people, soak up some affection, and finally feel safe, settled, and loved.

🌿 Freya is the kind of girl who would be perfectly happy enjoying a peaceful afternoon beside you, exploring outside, and then settling in for some quiet companionship.

🐕 Freya has also shown little to no dog reactivity and has been a wonderful companion to Gus. The two share a special bond and can be adopted together OR separately. If you’re looking for a pair, Freya and Gus would make a beautiful team—but Freya is more than capable of shining all on her own. ✨

There is something truly special about this girl.

🤎 Gentle
🐾 Soulful
❤️ Affectionate
🌿 Calm & easygoing
🐶 Dog tolerant
🥹 An incredible mama
🏡 Ready to finally be someone’s baby

Freya spent her time making sure her puppies were safe, loved, and cared for.

Now she deserves someone who will do the same for her. ❤️

She deserves a soft place to land. A family to call her own. A person to curl up beside. A home where she doesn’t have to worry about anything except where the best napping spot is and when the next round of affection is coming. 🥰

After being such a wonderful mother, it’s Freya’s turn to be someone’s baby.

Freya is ready.

All she needs is someone to look into those soulful eyes and fall in love. 🐾🤎🏡

🐾🤎 Meet Gus 🤎🐾
2-Year-Old Kangal | Staff & Volunteer Favorite ⭐

Gus is the kind of dog who gets under your skin and finds a permanent place in your heart. ❤️

This beautiful 2-year-old Kangal is an absolute ham who loves his people deeply. During his time with us, he’s become a favorite of both staff and volunteers—and once you get to know him, it’s easy to understand why.

Gus arrived at the shelter on July 3rd with Freya, an Anatolian mix, and all of her puppies. He’s been patiently waiting for his person ever since, and we truly believe that person is out there. 🏡🐾

Gus is extremely human-social, affectionate, and loving. He adores attention, companionship, and simply being part of whatever his people are doing. And if you’re lucky, you’ll get to hear his adorable little “woos” when he has something to say. 🥹🤎

Like many livestock guardian breeds, Gus bonds deeply with his people and can become protective of his home, property, and family. 🏡 He needs an experienced adopter who understands and appreciates guardian breeds and their natural instincts. Gus isn’t necessarily looking to be your Saturday-afternoon dog park dog—he’s looking for a job, a home, a person, and a place to belong.

✨ A few important things about Gus:
Gus has shown significant reactivity toward other dogs. Because of this, we feel he would be happiest as the only dog in the home unless he is adopted with Freya, with whom he shares a strong bond. Gus and Freya may be adopted together or individually depending on the home and circumstances.

🐑🐓 Gus has also shown an extreme interest in the sheep and chickens at the shelter. With an experienced handler, proper introductions, training, and management, he may have potential in an appropriate livestock or property-guardian setting.

🌲 He has the size, presence, and natural guardian instincts that could make him an incredible property companion in the right hands. But underneath that impressive guardian exterior is just a very, very good dog. ❤️

Gus is affectionate. He’s funny. He’s loyal. He’s engaging. He’s handsome. He’s full of personality. And he absolutely loves his people. 🤎🐾 He needs someone who understands that guardian breeds are special dogs with special instincts—someone willing to give him the structure, space, purpose, and love he needs to thrive.

📣 IMPORTANT: Gus is not currently on the adoption floor because of his dog reactivity, but that does NOT mean he isn’t available for adoption.

Gus will be altered once he has a serious adopter. If you’re interested in him, please ask about Gus at the front desk. Staff can arrange a meet-and-greet by appointment. 🐾

We love this guy. ❤️

He’s a ham. He’s handsome. He’s loyal. And he’s been waiting long enough. 🥹

🏡 Please don’t let Gus be the dog you wish you had asked about.

Come meet him. 🐾🤎

🐾💛 Meet Reese — Your New Best Friend 💛🐾

Some dogs have a way of making you feel like you’ve known them forever. Reese is one of those dogs. ❤️

Reese is a 2-year-old neutered German Shepherd mix with a beautiful gold and white coat, a wonderfully gentle personality, and a whole lot of love to give. He’s the kind of dog who doesn’t need to be the center of attention—he’s simply happy being included, loved, and by your side.

This handsome boy is incredibly affectionate, calm, and sweet-natured. 🥹 He loves spending time with his people and has an easygoing presence that makes him such a pleasure to be around.

And if there’s one thing Reese really loves, it’s being outside! 🌲☀️ Whether he’s exploring the yard, heading out for a walk, playing in the sunshine, or joining you for an outdoor adventure, Reese is happiest when he can stretch his legs and take in the world around him.

He already knows his basic commands and is eager to please, giving his future family a wonderful foundation to continue building on. 🎓🐾 Reese has that perfect combination of enjoying activity while still having a calm, gentle side when it’s time to settle down.

✨ A little about Reese:

💛 2 years old & neutered
🐾 Sweet, gentle & affectionate
🌲 Loves being outdoors
🎓 Knows basic commands
❤️ Eager to please
☀️ Playful without being overwhelming
🏡 Ready to become somebody’s loyal best friend

Reese isn’t asking for anything complicated. He wants a family who will include him in their life, give him adventures to look forward to, a comfortable place to relax, and plenty of love along the way.

He has so much potential to be that dog—the one who waits for you at the door, joins you for weekend adventures, hangs out beside you in the backyard, and eventually becomes such a natural part of your life that you can’t imagine how you ever lived without him. 🥹❤️

If you’ve been waiting for a loyal, loving companion with a gentle heart and an adventurous side, don’t overlook Reese.

He may just be waiting for you, too. 🏡🐾

🐾💛 Meet Indy 💛🐾

Some dogs are happiest curled up on the couch… Indy would rather be out exploring the world beside you. 🌾🚜

Indy is a 2-year-old German Shepherd mix with a gentle heart, an independent spirit, and a love for the outdoors. She’s looking for a home that understands her unique personality and will appreciate her for exactly who she is.

🌿 Indy’s happy place is outside. Whether she’s exploring the yard, helping with chores, riding shotgun in the truck, or relaxing in the sunshine, she’s simply content being part of your day.

She can be a little shy when meeting new people, but once she feels safe, she settles in beautifully. Indy isn’t needy or clingy—she enjoys companionship on her own terms and is happiest just being nearby.

One thing Indy absolutely loves? Other dogs! 🐕❤️

She thrives with canine companions and would do best with a friendly, well-balanced dog who can help build her confidence. A younger, social pup could also encourage her to become more engaged with her people over time. Because of her gentle nature, she’d do best with dogs that aren’t overly dominant or pushy.

🌼 A few of Indy’s favorite things:
🐿️ Chasing squirrels and birds
🚗 Car rides and adventures
🐕 Playing with other dogs
🌾 Spending time outdoors
🚜 Helping with chores around the property
☀️ Relaxing in wide open spaces

✨ The basics:
•Potty trained
• Doesn’t chew furniture
• Rarely barks
• Good with cats
• Good with horses
• Non-aggressive
• Food motivated

🏡 Indy would thrive on a ranch, farm, or property where she has plenty of room to roam and can spend most of her time outdoors. She’d make an incredible barn dog, ranch companion, or faithful truck buddy for someone who enjoys country living.

Her previous owner made the difficult decision to rehome her after realizing they weren’t the right match. Indy simply isn’t an indoor, velcro-type dog—and that’s okay. She just needs a home that embraces her independent nature and gives her the lifestyle she loves.

Indy won’t be the perfect dog for everyone… but for the right person, she’ll be an irreplaceable partner and loyal companion. 🤎

If you’ve been searching for an easygoing, outdoors-loving best friend to share life’s adventures with, Indy may be the one you’ve been waiting for.

📣 Please share to help Indy find the perfect forever home! 🐾
