Attention,

Public Auction: DFD is selling two ATVs, a boat trailer, a Zero-Turn Riding mower, and a portable generator. These are all for sale on Govdeals.com; see the link below. The ATVs have not run for about 5 years, but they were running fine before the fuel system started giving us trouble. The mower is probably best used for parts. The generator was donated to us and has never been used. The boat trailer is in good shape except for the original tires. It was for a Zodiac boat that has since fallen apart at the seams. Please help spread the word. Any funds we collect will go back into our equipment budget. The auction closes June 15th at 5 pm.

Like many others posting today, Rusty worked with the Diamondhead Fire District as part of the impressive path that was his career. The fire service lost a great leader today. Our prayers go out to his friends and family.

The Diamondhead Fire Department would like to congratulate Chief Munger on his 30th Year of Service! Chief has dedicated all thirty years to this city and has operated at each level within this organization. We are all thankful he continues to serve this community and lead this organization.

Diamondhead Fire is proud to recognize Firefighters Joey Reynolds, Lorenzo Armenta, and Chris Albrektson for successfully completing their EMT training and achieving certification as Nationally Registered EMTs.

This accomplishment reflects their dedication, professionalism, and commitment to the highest standards of emergency medical care. The addition of these certified EMTs enhances our ability to provide better patient care to our community.

Diamondhead Fire now has all of its Full-time personnel EMT-certified, except for the newly certified firefighters currently enrolled in an EMT course, and the firefighters who have not had the opportunity to attend an EMT course yet.

Please join us in Congratulating Joey, Lorenzo, and Chris for this milestone in their careers!

This Saturday!!!
Bring the kids to participate in our Annual Junior Firefighter Day.
We are running the same events as last year, and the Police Department may join us as well! We will be hosting from 11am-2pm. If you would like to pre-register your children before arrival, there is a link on our previous post with that information. This allows us to make each child's certificate before their arrival, so their bag is ready to go once they arrive. Please share with your friends and family! We hope to see everyone there!

Re: Golf Cart Charging and Maintenance

In light of some recent fires related to golf carts, I wanted to remind everyone to review our golf cart charging and maintenance procedures. I have also included a link to a great article from the NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) addressing this issue. The main bullet points are as follows:

- Follow the manufacturer's charging recommendations
- Use the charger provided by the manufacturer
- Charge the vehicle in a ventilated area (lead acid batteries produce hydrogen gas when they are charging)
- Be sure to charge the cart when someone is home, and never
overnight
- Make sure all your battery cables and connectors are clean and secure; a loose or corroded connection can cause a short
- Make sure your lead-acid batteries are appropriately filled with fluid per the manufacturer's directions
- Do not use batteries not designed or approved by the golf cart manufacturer
- Please make sure you have smoke or heat detectors in the area of the charging location

I know we all want to enjoy these vehicles and use them to our advantage, let's make sure we are doing that safely.
