🚧 Exciting News for Diaz! 🚧

Construction is officially underway on the new Casey’s store at the intersection of South VanDyke Rd and Airbase Road, just off I-57 at Exit 85.

This project marks an important milestone for our community. When completed, Casey’s will become the **first convenience store and gas station in Diaz since the late 1980s**. For many years, residents and travelers have had to leave town for fuel, quick groceries, and hot food options. This new location will bring those everyday conveniences back to our area.

The new store will not only make it easier for local residents to access fuel, food, and essentials close to home, but it will also serve travelers coming off I-57. With its location right at Exit 85, the store is expected to increase traffic to the area and support continued growth for the community.

Projects like this help strengthen small towns by creating jobs, improving convenience for residents, and encouraging future development.

This is not a new tax, but the continuation of an existing tax already in place. A portion of the money collected will be reallocated to the fire departments. This will help with operation cost and the replacement of outdated equipment. There will be no increase of taxes for the citizens of Jackson County.

While on duty in Diaz, Sergeant Richard Dickie Morris was unfortunately caught in the path of the tornado, as it tossed his cruiser into the yard of a resident. Morris is now in the hospital and recovering from his injuries.
