In 1995, Dolly Parton started mailing books to children in her home county to inspire children to love reading in honor of her dad, who couldn’t read or write.

That idea lives here too. Every month, children right here in Diboll find a book in the mailbox — because of neighbors who fund it, volunteers who run it, and a woman from Sevier County, TN who started it all.

Following the death of legendary country singer and philanthropist Dolly Parton, East Texas community leaders are pledging to carry on her literacy legacy through her signature Imagination Library program.

We are saddened by the passing of Dolly Parton, a global icon whose extraordinary legacy includes a lifelong commitment to children and literacy.

Through Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, her love of reading has reached millions of children around the world, including right here in Diboll. We are grateful to play a small part in carrying forward a legacy that has placed books into the hands and homes of so many young readers in our community.

Dolly believed every child deserved the chance to dream big, and she helped make those dreams a little bigger, one book at a time. 📕🦋

💡Did you know? The T.L.L. Temple Memorial Library was one of the early projects supported by funds raised during Diboll Day!

That connection continues today. ❤️ Proceeds from Diboll Day still help support our library’s operations and the programs, resources, and services we provide to our community each year.

We’re especially grateful to JM Chevrolet for supporting Diboll Day and investing in nonprofits and organizations that make our community stronger. Thank you for continuing to show up for Diboll! 🌲❤️

Hi Friends! Texts, emails, and calls are going out today as we try to recover overdue materials. If you are contacted and believe that you've returned your materials, just give us a call so we can take a look.

We'd appreciate you checking your shelves, toy boxes, and cars for books as well! Remember, we do not charge fines for books that have been out for a while! We just want them back for others to enjoy. 😊😊
