🚨 BACK TO SCHOOL SAFETY ALERT from Dickinson Police Department!
As students head back to class, let’s keep everyone safe on the roads and sidewalks.
✅ Electric bikes WITH PEDALS operating under 15 MPH
→ Can be ridden on the sidewalk with a helmet.
Helmet on. Ride smart. Stay safe.
❌ No pedals? Only pegs?
→ That’s a motorcycle.
These should NOT be ridden to school.
We all share the road.
Be respectful. Be responsible. Be safe.

🚌 Welcome Back Students!🚌

Summer flew by, and it's back to school this week. We'd like to take this time to remind everyone about school zone safety.

⬇️Slow Down in School Zones: When children are present, please follow the reduced speed limits as displayed in those areas.

🛑Stop for School Buses: One of our pet peeves, and one of the most dangerous! When a bus’s red lights are flashing and stop arm is extended, all traffic must stop in BOTH directions (unless divided by a median).

🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️Watch for Pedestrians: Kids may dart across streets unexpectedly. Yield to pedestrians at crosswalks and intersections.

📲Avoid Distractions: Put away phones and focus on the road, especially in school zones during drop-off and pick-up times.

⌚️Plan for Extra Time: Morning and afternoon traffic can be heavy. Leave early to avoid rushing through school zones.

🚸Drop-off Locations: Most schools have areas designated for IMMEDIATE loading/unloading of children; please find an alternate parking space if you need to go into the office and leave your vehicle unattended. Also, please do not stop in the driving lanes to drop off the kiddos; this backs up the traffic and can be particularly dangerous for them!

Let’s keep safety first as we kick off the school year! Wishing all our students a fantastic year of learning and growth.
