Sylvia-Yellow Creek Fire Department

On Monday afternoon at approximately 1:08 p.m., Sylvia Yellow Creek Fire Department was dispatched to the 300 block of Burgess Road for a reported camper fire.

Engine 1611 and Engine 1612 responded. Tennessee City Fire Rescue, Dickson County EMA/Fire, and Dickson County Fire Rescue were requested for mutual aid due to nearby homes and other possible exposures.

Firefighters arrived to find the camper fully involved, with multiple items exploding inside. The first-arriving engine quickly deployed a master stream to knock down the heavy fire and protect the surrounding homes. Once the main body of fire was brought under control, personnel used handlines to complete extinguishment and overhaul operations.

Fire personnel later determined that a mechanical failure involving the camper caused the earlier roadside grass fires along Yellow Creek Road.

We appreciate TCFR, DCEMA/Fire, and DCFR for their quick response and continued mutual-aid support.

On Monday morning at approximately 11:50 a.m., Sylvia Yellow Creek Fire Department was dispatched to the area of Yellow Creek Road and Nesbitt Cemetery Road following reports of multiple grass fires along the roadside.

Due to the number of fires reported, Tennessee City Fire Rescue and Dickson County EMA/Fire were requested to provide mutual aid.

Responding SYCFD units included Brush 1614, Engine 1611, and Engine 1612. We appreciate TCFR and DCEMA/Fire for their assistance and continued partnership.

On Monday, August 17, at approximately 5:26 p.m., Sylvia Yellow Creek Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire in the 2500 block of Maple Grove Road.

Upon arrival, firefighters encountered an active structure fire and immediately began fire suppression operations. Due to the rural location and the need for additional personnel and water, multiple mutual-aid agencies responded to assist with establishing a water supply, controlling the fire, and completing overhaul operations.

Sylvia Yellow Creek Fire Department would like to thank Dickson County Fire & Rescue, Dickson County EMA, Tennessee City Fire Department, McEwen Fire Department, Houston County Fire Department, Dickson County EMS, the Dickson County Sheriff’s Office, and Dickson Electric Department for their assistance.

Incidents like this demonstrate the importance of strong cooperation among neighboring departments and public-safety agencies. We sincerely appreciate everyone who responded and worked together throughout this incident.
