It helps to have a nice landing zone when your customer wants to pick up via Helo🚁

Over the years OPR has had the FBI and Homeland Security land to pick up products (mostly Fast Ropes), but recently we had a commercial customer come to get a few hundred pounds of S-Hooks and Welded Rings. I guess when you can fly, why make a few hour drive?

This made for a nice end to the day as everyone looked on. Just another day in the life!

Position Overview
OPR is seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented Production Technician to join our Diggs, VA team. This role focuses primarily on splicing synthetic rope assemblies and applying urethane‑based protective coatings. The position also supports broader shop operations and requires a strong commitment to quality, safety, and teamwork.

Primary Responsibilities
- Splice synthetic rope assemblies to required specifications
- Apply urethane‑based coatings to synthetic rope products
- Inspect finished products for quality and compliance
- Follow established safety procedures and production standards

Secondary Responsibilities
- Operate forklifts and other material‑handling equipment
- Assist with inventory management and material tracking
- Operate basic machine tools and shop equipment
- Support general production and facility operations as needed

Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
- Basic understanding of rope, rigging, or lifting equipment
- Highly preferred: Prior synthetic rope splicing experience
- Forklift experience or certification (or willingness to obtain)

Required Skills & Abilities
- Ability to lift and handle 40+ pounds regularly
- Strong attention to detail and workmanship
- Team‑oriented mindset and positive attitude
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Comfortable working in a hands‑on production setting
