The Lane County Republican Committee is accepting applications to fill the vacancy for the Lane County Clerk. Duties of the clerk include organizing and carrying out all Elections, Payroll, Human Resources, Transportation Director and taking minutes of all County Commissioner meetings. Benefits include Health Insurance and KPERS. The salary for the office will be between $42,000 and $48,000 based on experience. Here is this mornings updated severe weather risk for southwest Kansas over the next few days. Strong to severe thunderstorms are expected to move across western Kansas tonight and again Thursday night. A few of the strongest storms both nights will be capable of producing strong gusty winds and heavy rainfall.

The Storm Prediction Center believes there will be some strong to severe thunderstorms across the area outlined in blue through the early evening hours. Large hail and damaging winds will be possible with the strongest storms. These storms are then expected to weaken after sunset as they trek eastward out of the blue oval area.

As a weak upper level disturbance and frontal zone approaches western Kansas, scattered strong to severe thunderstorms will become increasingly likely. There is a Slight Risk (Level 2 of 5) of severe storms this evening across mainly far southwest and west central Kansas. The same general region is also in a Marginal Risk (level 1) Wednesday evening.
