We understand there have been some concerns and questions in our community regarding the cameras at Jaycee Park, and we want to provide a little clarification.

These cameras were installed with good intentions — to help protect Jaycee Park, the people who use it, and the property within it. Video surveillance in public spaces is not uncommon and serves many of the same purposes as security cameras outside a local business.

The cameras do not record audio. They are intended to provide video evidence when needed and help deter or investigate incidents occurring in the park.

Some of the reasons for having cameras in place include:

🔹 Deterring crime such as vandalism, graffiti, theft, and illegal dumping, particularly after dark.

🔹 Helping keep visitors safe by providing law enforcement with valuable information and evidence if an incident occurs.

🔹 Protecting park property, including buildings, equipment, and other community resources.

The goal is not to invade anyone's privacy or monitor people's everyday activities. The goal is simply to help keep Jaycee Park a safe, welcoming place for everyone in our community.

Thank you for helping us look out for our parks and for one another.

🚨ATTENTION SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS & QUICKBOOKS USERS

Over the past three days, the Dillon Police Department has received multiple reports from local business owners involving unauthorized withdrawals from business accounts. Some reported losses have exceeded $20,000.

Based on the information gathered so far, the activity may begin with a suspicious or unauthorized email. The withdrawal may appear in QuickBooks as a payment or direct deposit “to employees” and may even include the names of actual employees. However, the employees do not receive the funds. Instead, the money may be transferred to an unknown bank account.

Please remain diligent and carefully review all emails, payroll activity, direct deposits, bank transactions, and account changes. Do not click links or provide account information in response to unexpected emails. If you notice suspicious activity, contact your financial institution immediately and report the incident to law enforcement.

We will share additional information as it becomes available. Please consider sharing this post to help other local businesses stay informed and protect their accounts.

We traded our usual calls for a little summer fun today with the YMCA Summer Camp! ☀️🚓🚑

Our officers and EMS crew gave tours of the patrol cars and ambulance, talked about the equipment we use, and let the kids try out the lights, sirens, horns, and PA system. (Sorry if Dillon sounded a little louder than usual! 😉)

Thanks to the YMCA Summer Camp for having us we always enjoy spending time with the kids in our community. Stay safe and have a fun summer! 💙

Officer Blankenship and PD admin assistant Danielle completed (aka barely survived) their very first 1/2 and 1/4 Murph this morning! Strong work guys!

The “Murph” Challenge is a workout created in honor of Navy SEAL Lt. Michael P. Murphy, who was killed in action in Afghanistan in 2005 during Operation Red Wings. Originally called “Body Armor,” it became known as “Murph” after Murphy, who considered it one of his favorite workouts. The full challenge includes:
🏃‍♂️ 1-mile run
💪 100 pull-ups
💪 200 push-ups
💪 300 squats
🏃‍♂️ 1-mile run
…all while wearing a weighted vest or body armor.
Today’s scaled-down versions still gave us a serious appreciation for the physical and mental toughness behind this challenge. Most importantly, Murph is about remembering and honoring the sacrifices made by our military heroes and those who gave everything for our country. 🇺🇸
A HUGE shout out to everyone who takes on this challenge each year — full, half, quarter, or anywhere in between. You all are incredible! And thank you Topo Fitness for pushing, encouraging, and surviving it with us! 💥👏

Wishing everyone a wonderful, safe Memorial Weekend!
