Officers with the Dillon Police Department have taken Bradley Demarcus Wheeler, 28, into custody on the evening of Thursday, April 9, 2026, following an ongoing homicide investigation.

Wheeler was identified as a suspect in connection with an incident that occurred on South 1st Avenue on March 23, 2026, within the city limits of Dillon. He was located and apprehended without incident.

At the time of his arrest, Wheeler was wanted on multiple charges, including Murder, Attempted Murder, Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime

Chief Herring commended the coordinated efforts of department personnel and partner agencies, including the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office, the Dillon County Coroner’s Office, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, whose assistance played a key role in bringing this case to a resolution.

Wheeler was transported to the Dillon County Detention Center and is currently awaiting a bond hearing. As with all criminal cases, the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

The investigation remains active, and additional arrest are forthcoming. The Dillon Police Department is pleased to announce the successful apprehension of a wanted individual, Howard Antonyo “AlleyCat” Fields on the afternoon of Wednesday, April 8, 2026.

Fields who was wanted in connection with a murder that occurred within the city limits of Dillon on March 23,2026, was taken into custody by officers without incident in the Hamer area.

Chief Herring would like to recognize the efforts of our officers, investigators, and assisting agencies including the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office, Dillon County Coroner’s Office, South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) whose coordination and tireless efforts led to this outcome.

Fields has been transported to the Dillon County Detention Center where he is currently awaiting a bond hearing. All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in the court of law.

The City of Dillon Police Department remains committed to ensuring the safety of our community and will continue to actively pursue individuals who pose a threat to public safety.

This is still an active investigation. We encourage members of the community to continue providing information that assists law enforcement efforts.

Dillon Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating Howard Fields, Jr. of Dillon, who is wanted in connection with a homicide investigation that occurred on March 23, 2026, within the city limits of Dillon.

Fields currently has active warrants for the following charges:
- Murder
- Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime
- Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon

Fields is believed to be armed and dangerous. Anyone who sees Fields or knows his whereabouts is advised not to approach him and to contact law enforcement immediately.

This case remains under active investigation. Additional information will be released as it becomes available. All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in the court of law.

The Dillon Police Department announces that on the morning of April 7, 2026, Isaiah Jordan Bethea, age 19, turned himself in to law enforcement at the Dillon Police Department in connection with a shooting incident that occurred on March 23, 2026, within the city limits of Dillon.

Bethea has been formally charged with Murder and Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime. He is currently being held at the Dillon County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing. All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in the court of law.

The Dillon Police Department would like to extend its sincere appreciation to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED), the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the officers of the Dillon Police Department for their assistance and collaboration in this case. Their efforts and dedication are greatly appreciated.

On December 8, 2025, city officers responded to reports of gunshots at the Days Inn on Radford Boulevard. Officers learned that two individuals with gunshot wounds were being treated at McLeod's Medical Center in Dillon. The investigation identified Samuel Elon Covington as the suspect. On December 10, 2025, deputies spotted a vehicle believed to be operated by Covington. After confirming his identity, deputies arrested him and transported him to the Dillon County Detention Center. Covington was charged with two counts of Attempted Murder, Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, and Possession of a Weapon during the Commission of a Violent Crime. Interim Chief Ryan Berry would like to thank the Dillon Police Department's Investigators and Patrol Officers along with the Dillon County Sheriff's Office and SLED for their assistance in this investigation.

The Dillon Police Department is requesting the public’s assistance in locating Joatur Delee Blakely, who is wanted in connection with a homicide that occurred on Monday, November 3, 2025, at the 24-Hour Spot, located at 201 Highway 301 South within the city limits of Dillon.

At approximately 8:00 a.m. on November 3, officers along investigators with the Dillon Police Department responded to a report of a shooting at the business. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim lying on the ground who appeared to have suffered gunshot wounds. The victim was transported by EMS to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Investigators on scene were able to quickly identify Joatur Delee Blakely, age 25 as the suspect based on video surveillance of the incident and witness statements.

Blakely is currently wanted for Murder in connection with this incident. Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is urged to contact Investigator Monroe Herring with the Dillon Police Department at 843-774-0051, or by calling the E-911 dispatch non – emergency number at 843-841-3707.
