🚔 Please Join Us in Welcoming Officer Kadine Locklear! 🚔

The Dillon Police Department is proud to welcome Private Kadine Locklear to our department.

Pvt. Locklear recently graduated from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy after successfully completing eight weeks of intensive training. He will now begin the next phase of his law enforcement career by participating in the department’s Field Training Officer (FTO) Program.

We encourage members of our community to say hello and help us welcome Pvt. Locklear when you see him out serving on the streets of Dillon.

Chief Monroe Herring and all the officers of the Dillon Police Department proudly congratulate Pvt. Locklear on this important accomplishment and warmly welcome him to our department. We wish him a long, safe, and successful career in law enforcement!

The City of Dillon Police Department is requesting the public’s assistance in locating Jasmine Mechelle Davis, 28 years old.

Jasmine was last seen on July 31, 2026, within the city limits of Dillon, South Carolina. Her current whereabouts are unknown.

‼Multiple arrest in Father’s Day shootout.‼

On Sunday, June 21, 2026, officers with the City of Dillon Police Department responded to the area of South 9th Avenue in reference to shots fired.

Officers located a large amount of shell casings in the roadway and determined that multiple individuals had exchanged gunfire. As a result of the shootout, multiple vehicles and residences were struck by gunfire, placing innocent citizens at serious risk.

Following an intensive investigation that included the collection of physical evidence and review of video surveillance footage, arrest warrants were obtained for the following individuals:

Rakeem Maurice Davis, of Dillon
•Attempted Murder (2 Counts)
•Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Convicted of Certain Crimes
•Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Violent Crime

Jamaal Davis, of Dillon
•Attempted Murder (2 Counts)
•Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Convicted of Certain Crimes
•Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Violent Crime

On Friday, June 26, 2026, both subjects were apprehended and taken into custody without incident and transported to the Dillon County Detention Center, where they are awaiting bond hearings.

Investigators also determined that Rakeem Maurice Davis was already out on bond for Attempted Murder, Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Convicted of Certain Crimes, and Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Violent Crime from a previous incident within the City of Dillon.

Chief M. Herring stated, "The reckless gun violence displayed in this incident will not be tolerated in our community. The City of Dillon Police Department remains committed to aggressively pursuing those who endanger the lives of our citizens. We will continue working with our law enforcement partners to identify, arrest, and hold offenders accountable for their actions."

Chief Herring would like to thank the officers of the City of Dillon Police Department, the Dillon County Sheriff's Office, and SLED for their coordinated efforts, dedication to protecting the community, and commitment to ensuring those responsible are brought to justice. Additional arrests are expected in this case.

🚨🚨🚨Shooting Incident Under Investigation by Dillon Police Department🚨🚨🚨

On June 22, 2026, at approximately 5:40 p.m., officers with the City of Dillon Police Department were dispatched to a business located on West Main Street in Dillon in reference to a reported gunshot victim.

Upon arrival, officers located one individual who had sustained a gunshot wound. The victim was treated on scene by EMS personnel and transported to a local hospital with injuries that are believed to be non-life threatening.

Officers and investigators immediately began an investigation into the incident. Preliminary information indicates that the suspect entered the business and, during an altercation, discharged a firearm, striking the victim. The suspect fled the scene prior to law enforcement's arrival.

The investigation into this incident remains active and ongoing. Investigators have identified a person of interest, and arrest warrants are anticipated as detectives continue to review the facts and circumstances surrounding the shooting.

The City of Dillon Police Department remains committed to protecting the citizens of Dillon and ensuring that those who commit acts of violence within our community are held accountable for their actions.

Suspect Captured Following Officer-Involved Shooting Investigation

Chief Monroe Herring and the City of Dillon Police Department are pleased to announce that the suspect involved in the officer-involved shooting that occurred on June 18, 2026, has been taken into custody.

During the morning hours of June 19, 2026, officers with the City of Dillon Police Department located and apprehended the suspect at a residence within the city limits of Dillon. The arrest was made without incident.

The suspect was wanted in connection with an incident that occurred on June 18, 2026, when officers attempted to apprehend him in the area of East Harrison Street and U.S. Highway 301 North. During that encounter, a City of Dillon Police officer was shot and sustained injuries.

The injured officer remains in good spirits and is expected to make a full recovery. The City of Dillon Police Department is grateful for the overwhelming support, prayers, and well wishes received from the community and our law enforcement partners.

Chief Herring would like to thank the officers of the City of Dillon Police Department, along with assisting law enforcement agencies, Latta Police Department, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) and Florence County Sheriff T.J. The Dillon Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating Steve Allen Mason, Jr. of Marion, South Carolina, who is wanted in connection with an incident that occurred on June 18, 2026, within the city limits of Dillon.

Mason currently has an active warrant for the following charge
- Pointing and Presenting a firearm.

Mason is believed to be armed and dangerous. Anyone who sees Mason or knows his whereabouts is advised not to approach him and to contact law enforcement immediately.

Officer Injured During Attempt to Apprehend Armed Suspect

On June 18, 2026, officers with the City of Dillon Police Department located a wanted subject in the area of East Harrison Street and U.S. Highway 301 North. The subject was wanted in connection with an incident earlier in the day involving the pointing and presenting of a firearm at a local convenience store.

As officers attempted to take the subject into custody, gunfire was exchanged, and a City of Dillon Police officer was struck by gunfire.
The injured officer was immediately transported to McLeod Medical Center – Dillon for treatment. At this time, the officer is in good spirits and is expected to recover from his injuries.

The City of Dillon Police Department, Dillon County Sheriff’s Office and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) is actively investigating the incident and continues to search for the suspect. The suspect should be considered armed and dangerous.

Residents are asked to avoid the area of East Harrison Street and U.S. Highway 301 North while officers process the scene and conduct investigative operations.

Chief M. Herring and the members of the City of Dillon Police Department sincerely appreciate the prayers, support, and concern expressed for the injured officer and his family.
