From the Summer Solstice (the longest day of the year) to the Father Figures who have the longest patience (mostly), we’re celebrating the Dads, Step-Dads, Grandpas, and Uncles in our community.

Desde el Solsticio de Verano (el día más largo del año) hasta las figuras paternas que tienen la paciencia más larga (bueno... ¡casi siempre!), hoy celebramos a los papás, padrastros, abuelos y tíos de nuestra comunidad.

For Dulce, summer has always meant family, friends, and the outdoors. Growing up, she was happiest wherever her friends were—whether racing bikes, swimming at the pool, or enjoying anything chocolate. The scent of sunscreen instantly takes her back to sunny childhood summers spent at her grandma’s in Mexico, which only paused at the end of the day when her mom’s distinct whistle signaled it was time to come home.

A lifelong Coloradan, Dulce moved to Fairplay at age 12, where she fell in love with small-town life and sunset watching. That passion for community shines through in her work with Head Start, a role she joined in 2022 and quickly fell in love with. Outside of work, Dulce is always planning weekend adventures with her husband Martin, her son Alejandro, and their three dogs: Bolita, Naomi, and Oscar.

Para Dulce, el verano siempre ha significado familia, amigos y estar al aire libre. De niña, era de lo más feliz estando donde estuvieran sus amigos; ya fuera echando carreras en bici, nadando en la alberca o disfrutando de cualquier cosa que tuviera chocolate. El aroma del bloqueador solar la transporta de inmediato a esos veranos soleados de su infancia en casa de su abuelita en México, los cuales solo hacían una pausa al final del día cuando el silbido tan particular de su mamá le avisaba que ya era hora de regresar a casa.

Coloradense de toda la vida, Dulce se mudó a Fairplay a los 12 años, donde se enamoró de la vida de pueblo chico y de ver los atardeceres. Esa pasión por la comunidad se nota en su trabajo en Head Start, un rol al que se integró en 2022 y del que se enamoró por completo rápidamente. Fuera del trabajo, a Dulce siempre le encanta planear escapadas de fin de semana con su esposo Martín, su hijo Alejandro y sus tres perros: Bolita, Naomi y Oscar.
