**********************PRESS RELEASE********************************

On March 28, 2026, Deputies with the Beaverhead County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Team conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 15 near Dillon, Montana, after observing a vehicle with a malfunctioning taillight.
The vehicle exited the interstate and was stopped near the intersection of Atlantic Street and Southside Boulevard. During the stop, deputies observed behavior consistent with criminal activity, prompting further investigation.
Deputy Dairy deployed his K9 partner, Riker, on scene. Riker was alerted to the presence of illegal narcotics within the vehicle. Deputies subsequently detained both occupants and obtained a search warrant for the vehicle.
During the investigation, one individual was found to have provided false identification and was later positively identified through law enforcement databases. Both occupants were taken into custody.
A search of the vehicle and subsequent investigation resulted in the discovery of multiple items of drug paraphernalia and suspected controlled substances, including he**in, methamphetamine, fentanyl, and ma*****na, along with other evidence consistent with narcotics use. Additional suspected narcotics were later recovered during the booking process at the Beaverhead County Detention Center.
Both individuals were transported to the Beaverhead County Detention facility and face multiple charges, including possession of dangerous drugs, drug paraphernalia, and obstruction.
All suspected substances have been submitted to the Montana State Crime Lab for analysis. Charges may be amended pending the results of that testing.
Public Safety Reminder: Fentanyl is a potent and dangerous opioid. Even small amounts can be deadly. The Beaverhead County Sheriff’s Office urges the public to avoid contact with unknown substances and to immediately report suspected drug activity. If you encounter a suspicious substance, do not handle it and contact local law enforcement right away.
The Beaverhead County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to proactive criminal interdiction efforts to keep dangerous drugs out of our communities and ensure the safety of our residents.
