I was honored to be the keynote speaker last night at Northern High School's Baccalaureate service. This graduating class is extra special to me, as they are the last group of students that I taught before taking office as your state representative. Speaking to kids and encouraging them is one of my favorite things to do. The Class of 2026 has bright futures ahead of them!

The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is now accepting applications for the 2026 Wild Resource Conservation Program (WRCP), which offers grants to support research and conservation projects that protect Pennsylvania’s native wildlife, plants and ecosystems.

The program will invest more than $500,000 in projects across the Commonwealth that support conserving non-game animals, native plants and fungi, and invertebrates such as insects — species that are often left out of traditional conservation programs but are vital to the Commonwealth’s ecosystems.

The deadline to apply is June 30. For additional information and a link to apply, click here: pa.gov/agencies/dcnr/conservation/wildlife-biodiversity/wild-resources-conservation-program.

I was happy to present a House citation to Bishop McDevitt wrestler and 92nd District resident Camden Baum today in Harrisburg. Camden was the PIAA Class 2A wrestling champion earlier this year and is headed to Purdue University to continue his career. Congrats Camden, way to make Northern York County proud!

This morning, I was pumped to welcome the Northern Middle School Future Problem Solving Team to Harrisburg. They earned first place in their division for their action plan and creative presentation. These kids are headed to the 2026 Future Problem Solving International Conference at Indiana University later this month. Congrats and best of luck!

Thanks to everyone who came out to my second annual veterans breakfast last Friday! The sacrifices our veterans made helped to preserve what the Founders called the “blessings of liberty” for future generations. We speak freely, worship freely, assemble freely, petition freely, and live freely because of their service. It was a privilege to serve them after all they have done for our country.

Thank you to Rep. Scott Perry, Rev. Thadius Sales, Pennsylvania Wounded Warriors, Inc., Veterans Lake Fishing, the VR&E Program, Vet Center, Veterans Outreach of Pennsylvania, Red Land High School JROTC, and the Northern Bear Singers for helping to make this event a success. Special thanks go to American Legion Post 26, Dillsburg PA for once again being incredible hosts!

The deadline for senior citizens and Pennsylvanians with disabilities to apply for rebates on rent and property taxes paid in 2025 has been extended to Dec. 31.

Income limits for the Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program increased again this year to $48,110 for both homeowners and renters. Remember to exclude 50% of Social Security when determining your income. The maximum rebate is $1,000.

The program is open to residents age 65 years and older; widows and widowers 50 years and older; and people with disabilities 18 years and older.

Remember – you do not need to pay anyone for assistance to apply for the rebates. Apply online at mypath.pa.gov, or contact my office at 717-432-0792 for help. Additional information about the program is available here: pa.gov/agencies/revenue/ptrr.

Rebates will be distributed beginning July 1, as required by law.

Mr. A’s Minute: Episode XVII, Part IV: The People Pleaser President

This week on Mr. A’s Minute, we’re continuing our series on lesser known presidents with James Buchanan. Pennsylvania’s only president, Buchanan was the president to serve right before the Civil War. Unfortunately, Buchanan’s lack of conviction and ignorance of the slavery issue destroyed his presidency. The lesson we should take from James Buchanan is that it is always better to stand on our principles than sacrifice them to please others.

May is Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month. By consistently following safe driving and riding practices and sharing them with others, all motorists can help reduce the number of motorcyclist fatalities on America’s roads.

The following are safe driving and riding practices that all road users – vehicle drivers and motorcyclists alike – should follow to help reduce the number of fatalities and injuries on our roadways:
• Observe all traffic laws and always obey the speed limit.
• Drive and ride alcohol- and drug-free.
• Avoid distractions while driving or riding.
• Drivers should yield to motorcyclists, especially while turning at intersections.
• Motorcyclists should wear high-visibility protective gear.

One other significant step that motorcycle riders can take toward promoting road safety for all motorists is completing a rider education and training course. Please visit pamsp.com to learn about Pennsylvania’s free motorcycle training courses.

Governor Shapiro’s budget would raise taxes and make life even more expensive than it already is. Your family can’t afford it, and that’s why I’ll be fighting against it next month in Harrisburg.
