Now that the kids are settled back into school and fall is just around the corner, it is a wonderful time to clear some space on the shelves! 🍂

We have just two weeks left to collect donations for our upcoming Fall Used Book Sale. We are happily accepting gently used books, puzzles, board games, DVDs, and audiobooks through Saturday, September 12th (or until our storage space fills up). Please bring your donations inside to the front desk during our regular library hours so our staff can tuck them away safely.

Be sure to mark your calendar for the sale itself! We will open early at 9:00 AM on Saturday, September 19th, continue all week during regular library hours, and wrap up with our $5 Fill-a-Bag Day on Saturday, September 26th.

Thank you so much for thinking of us and for always being such a supportive part of our library family. 💛

A quick update on our next Booktroverts teen book club meetup!

We know copies of The Silent Patient were tough to track down, and with school starting back up, life is already busy enough. So, we are switching gears for September: read any Teen, YA, or Children’s book you’d like!

Bonus points (just for fun!) if you pick something outside of your usual favorite genre.

Join Us!
Booktroverts is a relaxed space just for teens to hang out, share their honest thoughts, and talk books with other readers.

Come pull up a chair with us on Wednesday, September 2 at 6:00 PM at the library. Bring a friend, tell us what you've been reading lately, or just come listen and enjoy some snacks!

Behind every well-known historical event, there are countless fascinating, quiet stories just waiting to be uncovered.

Author, historian, and musician Avellina Balestri is visiting the library to shine a light on some of the lesser-known perspectives of the American Revolution; from the human side of the Saratoga Campaign of 1777 to the complex questions of faith and community during wartime.

Rather than an ordinary lecture, Avellina will bring the 18th century to life with:
Live acoustic performances of authentic period songs 🎶
Selected readings from her historical fiction series, All Ye That Pass By 📖
A relaxed Q&A exploring these unique regional and personal histories

•When: Tuesday, September 1 at 2:00 PM
•Where: Dillsburg Area Public Library

This program is free to attend, and all are welcome. It’s a wonderful afternoon outing if you enjoy local history, great storytelling, or traditional music. We would love to see you there!

As always, we like to leave our last Thank You for the person who deserves it the most, Miss Sue.

For our patrons, summer reading and all its programs start June 1st, but for Miss Sue, the dedication never truly stops. In fact, planning for the next year's summer reading starts about a month after the current one ends! Even while running her regular fall, winter, and spring story times, LEGO®, and Coding Clubs, she spends hours preparing in the background to ensure our young patrons will have a fantastic summer.

Then, when summer reading finally begins, her days may start at sunrise to hide dinos for a hunt and last well past midnight making sure stuffies have a great sleepover. All of those early mornings and late nights are fueled by her dedication to making the library a special place where a lifelong love of reading and learning begins. That is exactly why our SummerQuests here at the Dillsburg Area Public Library are such massive successes.

On behalf of the staff, patrons, and visitors, thank you, Miss Sue, for making this summer Roar-some!
