Dillsburg Library Happenings: June 1 – 6, 2026

📖It is officially June, and that means our favorite time of the year has arrived!🦖

SummerQuest Has Begun!
The wait is over! Today marks the official start of SummerQuest 2026. You can now log your reading minutes and activities through Beanstack to start earning badges and fun rewards.

Adults! Please remember that SummerQuest isn't just for the kids. You can join in on the fun and log the reading, too! In addition, Dillsburg has its very own Adult Summer Reading Challenge coming up. Keep an eye on our page for more details on that very soon.

•6:30 PM: Stitchin' Time at the Library (Bring your current knitting, crochet, or sewing project and enjoy some friendly conversation!)

Support the library you love with a relaxing evening painting in the garden. 🌻🎨

On Thursday, June 25th at 6:00 PM, we’re hosting "Paint Night in the Garden with Jenn." This special evening is a fundraiser, and every single dollar raised goes directly toward supporting the library programs and services that our community relies on all year long!

We’ll be gathering in our beautiful Jordan Richardson Reading Garden (swipe to see the lovely space!) to paint a vibrant sunflower together. One of our wonderful Library Board members, Jenn Brann, will be guiding us step-by-step.

You don’t need any prior painting experience at all—this is just a relaxed, friendly night out to enjoy the fresh air, catch up with neighbors, and support a great cause.

The Details:

Cost: $30 per person (includes all painting supplies). You can pay at the event with cash, check, or credit card.

What to bring: Feel free to bring along your favorite snacks or a refreshing beverage to enjoy while your masterpiece dries.

Rain Date: Monday, June 29th.

The Museum Passes aren't shelf ready yet, but they are in our catalog and holds can now be placed on them: Hershey Gardens, Whitaker Center, Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania, and Lake Tobias.

Update: Hershey Children's Museum has entered the chat and is now available to place on hold as well.

Take a look at what our incredibly talented builders created at our last meeting! Our display case is absolutely packed with imagination right now—featuring a custom plane, an airport house, a planet, a rocket ship, a smoll creature, and a brilliant micro build! 🚀🏎️✨

If you have a young builder at home who loves to create, our next meeting is just around the corner:

We supply all the bricks, and you bring the creativity. You can take on our monthly challenge or build a masterpiece entirely from your own design. Best of all, your creation will be displayed all month in for the whole community to admire!

School is winding down, SummerQuest is just around the corner, and we have a big question for our local teens: What kind of mystery do you want to build this year? 🗺️🧩

Starting June 10th, we are handing over the keys to the Children’s Room and giving anyone ages 12 and up total creative control. We need a team to brainstorm, design, and build our annual Kids' Summer Escape Room from scratch! If you love storytelling, drawing maps, painting scenery, or acting, your library needs your help.

We have four planning sessions on Wednesdays at 2:00 PM:
🗓️ June 10, June 24, July 8, and July 22

While it is absolutely okay if summer vacations mean you can only make a few sessions, we would love for you to join us for all four! There is nothing quite like seeing your ideas grow from a first-day sketch into a full-scale mystery—and then getting to actually "perform" and run the escape room as the hosts on July 29. No registration is required for these planning sessions, so just bring your imagination and a friend!

For our younger adventurers (ages 6 to 12):
Mark your calendars for Wednesday, July 29 for the official Escape Room Challenge! In years past, our teen creators have transformed the room into a haunted library, a dinosaur time machine, and an outer space mission. What will they dream up next? Stay tuned as the summer progresses!
