Community Notice – Vandalism at Danford Island Park

It is with great sadness and disappointment that we share that Danford Island Park was recently vandalized. The gazebo, sidewalk, and a tree were spray-painted, causing significant damage to a place that means so much to our community.

Danford Island Park is more than just a park. It was built by our community, through the generosity of donations, countless hours of hard work, and the dedication of people who cared deeply about creating a beautiful place for everyone to enjoy. It is a reflection of what our community can accomplish when we come together.

That is why this vandalism is especially heartbreaking. So many people have invested their time, resources, and love into this park. Generations of families have enjoyed it, and we know how much this special place means to our residents.

Our DPW team and local contractors are working to assess the damage and determine the best methods for cleaning and repairing the affected areas. The Michigan State Police have also been notified and are investigating the incident.

We want to find out who is responsible. If you witnessed anything suspicious at or around Danford Island Park, or if you have information that could help the State Police with their investigation, please come forward and share what you know with law enforcement.

We ask our community to keep an eye out and to please report any suspicious activity. Most importantly, we ask that we continue to look out for one another and for the places that make our community special.

Danford Island Park belongs to all of us. It was created because people in our community cared enough to build it, support it, and give their time and resources to make it what it is today. We will work together to restore it, just as we worked together to create it.

Thank you to our DPW team, contractors, State Police, and all of the community members who are helping us address this unfortunate incident.

If you have any information that may assist with the investigation, please contact the Michigan State Police or the Village Office, 517-646-0230
