On this Memorial Day, we honor the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. Their courage and selflessness will never be forgotten.

As an EMS agency, we are privileged to serve our community in peace because of the sacrifices made by those who served in times of war. Today is not about celebration—it is a day of remembrance, reflection, and profound gratitude.

To the families of the fallen, we carry their memory with us. We thank them. We remember them. We honor them.

🚗☀️ On Tuesday, DTVAC held our Annual EMS Week Child Safety Seat Check in partnership with the Pike County Sheriff's Office, PA and it was our most successful seat check event ever.

Despite the unseasonably hot weather and a busy Primary Election Day in Pennsylvania, caregivers came out in record numbers to have their child safety seats inspected by Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians. In total, we inspected more car seats than at any single event in our agency’s history.

Thank you to every caregiver who participated, the dedicated CPSTs who helped keep children safer, and Carl Will of McAteer & Will Estates - Keller Williams Real Estate for generously donating lunch for the CPSTs and our on-duty crews.

This event was part of a region-wide car seat inspection campaign led by Emergency Medical Services of Northeast Pennsylvania during National EMS Week.

As an EMS agency recognized at the highest level under Pennsylvania’s Pediatric Voluntary Recognition Program, DTVAC offers car seat inspections by appointment year-round. To schedule an inspection, call DTVAC at (570) 828-2345, ext. 808, or the Pike County Sheriff’s Office at (570) 296-6459.

Thank you for helping make this a record-breaking day for child passenger safety in our community! 🚑👶

⚠️ The holiday weekend is almost here, and we know many of you will be out enjoying the beautiful spots in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area (DWGNRA), including Childs Park, not just this weekend, but throughout the summer. Just a quick reminder: parking fills up fast, especially on holiday weekends! 🏞️

🅿️ When the parking lot at Child’s Park is full, please note that we do not permit public parking in our lot or in front of our garage doors. There have been instances in the past in which illegally parked vehicles have obstructed EMS personnel and apparatus from responding to emergency incidents. 🚑 We utilize a private towing contractor to tow vehicles that are illegally parked at our EMS station. Additionally, parking along Park Road is prohibited by township ordinance. 🚫

💡 If you arrive and parking is full, we encourage you to check out one of the many other beautiful spots in the DWGNRA. There’s a lot to explore! 🌐 You can find a list of great alternative destinations here: https://www.nps.gov/dewa/planyourvisit/placestogo.htm 🌄

🇺🇸 Have a safe and fun holiday weekend! 🌭

🗳️ Primary Election Day in Pennsylvania is tomorrow, Tuesday, May 19th, and polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. If you’re a resident of eastern Pike County with a medical condition and require assistance getting to or from the polls or if you need to borrow a wheelchair, cane, or walker for the day, give us a call at (570) 828-2345 ext. 0 to see if we can help you out!

📫 While vote-by-mail is a helpful option for many, it isn’t accessible or appropriate for everyone. Life happens—mail delays, last-minute changes in health, or the need for in-person assistance are all real. In-person voting on Election Day remains a vital part of our democratic process, and we’re proud to support our neighbors in getting to the polls safely.

🇺🇸 We believe everyone should have the opportunity to cast their vote, and we’re proud to support our community in making that happen!

🚑 Today marks the start of National EMS Week, celebrated this year from May 17–23, 2026.

EMS Week is a time to recognize the dedicated professionals who answer the call every day and night to provide emergency medical care, comfort, and support when it is needed most. This year’s theme, “Improving Outcomes, Together,” highlights the teamwork that makes emergency care possible — from EMTs and paramedics to dispatchers, support personnel, educators, supervisors, and medical directors.

At Delaware Township Volunteer Ambulance Corps, we are proud to serve our community and proud to stand alongside EMS professionals everywhere who work tirelessly to protect the health and safety of others. Whether responding to emergencies, providing lifesaving treatment, supporting public health, or helping people through some of their most difficult moments, EMS professionals make a difference each and every day.

Throughout this week, we celebrate the commitment, compassion, skill, and resilience of everyone who helps make EMS possible. Thank you to all EMS professionals — here in our community and across the country — for your service and dedication.

💙 Thank you for being there when it matters most.

🚑 Last week, several of our EMTs and paramedics completed the Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) course at our station. 🩺

🌍 PHTLS, developed by the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT) in collaboration with the American College of Surgeons’ Committee on Trauma, is recognized globally as the gold standard in prehospital trauma care. Taught in over 80 countries, this program equips EMS providers with the knowledge and critical thinking skills needed to manage multi-system trauma patients effectively. The 16-hour PHTLS program is based on a philosophy stressing the treatment of the multisystem trauma patient as a unique entity with specific needs. PHTLS promotes critical thinking using scenario-based training, patient simulations, and hands-on skills practice to improve trauma care and reduce mortality. ⚕️

👏 A big thank you to NAEMT Instructors Lorna MacIntire and Steven Kulick for leading this essential training and to the Lehigh Valley Hospital - Pocono Learning Institute for bringing the course to our station, making it easier for local providers to attend without long travel times. 🏥

🥪 We’re also grateful to Key Food Marketplace (KeyfoodMilford) for generously providing a complimentary lunch for our attendees and on-duty crews!🍴

📚 Ongoing training is critical for our EMS providers to stay current with the latest medical guidelines, protocols, and best practices—ensuring the highest standard of care for every patient, every time. EMS is an ever-evolving field, and continuous education helps providers sharpen their skills, reinforce their clinical judgment, and remain prepared for the wide variety of emergencies they may encounter. 📔

Happy Mother’s Day from Delaware Township Volunteer Ambulance Corps! 💐

Today, we celebrate the incredible mothers, grandmothers, and caregivers who make our community stronger every single day. Your compassion, resilience, and dedication—both at home and out in the community—do not go unnoticed. Whether you’re caring for your family, supporting others in times of need, or even serving on the front lines in emergency services, your impact is truly meaningful. 🙏

We would also like to recognize the mothers within our organization who balance the demands of emergency response with the responsibilities of family life. Your commitment to helping others, often at a moment’s notice, is nothing short of inspiring. 🚑

From all of us at DTVAC, thank you for everything you do. We wish you a safe, happy, and well-deserved Mother’s Day! 💜
