Divernon Township Library The Divernon Township Library, founded in 1967, is proud to have served the community for over fifty

In 1966 the Divernon Women’s Club started a local library as a club project. The community rallied to donate books, shelves, and desks to start the library; funds to support the library; and volunteers to operate the library. In 1967 the people of Divernon voted to support the library through local taxes and the Divernon Township Library officially came into existence. By 1974, the library had gro

wn considerably and could now afford to hire a staff. In 1999 the library expanded its location to the present size. Today, the Divernon Township Library houses over 10,000 items ready for active circulation, including books, audiobooks, and DVDs. The library has also expanded its collection to include thousands of eBooks and eAudiobooks by partnering with the 3M Cloud Library. In addition, through its partnership with the Illinois Heartland Library System, the library has access to hundreds of thousands of books, audiobooks, and movies that are shipped to it for free. The Divernon Township Library has many plans for the future and hopes that everyone in the community will take advantage of its abundant resources and continue to support its efforts to serve.
