Mueller State Park Mueller State Park’s 55 miles of trails provide a 5,000-acre playground for the hiker, mountain biker and wildlife watcher.

Park visitors traverse the park’s numerous trails on foot, snowshoes, cross-country skis, horseback and mountain bike, depending on the season. A popular winter destination for snow shoeing. ptions to stay overnight. There are 132 campsites in the park; 17 of these are open for winter camping . The park also has three cabins for rent year-round. Mueller State Park welcomes pets in campgrounds, picnicking, two sledding areas and along the park’s roads, but not on the hiking trails or in the backcountry. Mueller is a Watchable Wildlife Area. Keeping pets off of the trails increases the chances of visitors seeing the numerous species of wildlife in the park. Pets must be on a leash at all times unless they are in their tent, RV or personal vehicle. Colorado Parks and Wildlife welcomes open discussion on social media. However, we ask that you keep your comments and posts clean, maintaining a family friendly environment. We ask that you follow our posting guidelines. Tue, June 2: Nobel Cabin Hike
8:30-10:30 a.m. Meet at Black Bear Trailhead
Hike 4 miles to the historic Nobel Cabin with experienced volunteer naturalist, Penny.

Wed, June 3: Junior Rangers on the Trail
11 a.m.-12 p.m. Meet at Outlook Ridge Trailhead
Have you ever wanted to learn more about the forest and hiking at Mueller State Park? Hike to the first outlook, record sightings in your own nature journal and collect a compass keychain. Best for ages 6-12, but all are welcome. Children and their grown ups should attend together.

10 a.m.-12 p.m. Meet at Elk Meadow Trailhead
Hike 2 miles with great views. Along the way learn about what things are helpful to bring with you and useful tips when spending time outside.

Use yoga based standing movements among trees, plants, animals, earth and sky to build strength and resilience in our bodies and minds. There is a short hike to the location. Please dress in comfortable clothes that you can move in and wear sturdy lightweight walking shoes. All levels of fitness are welcome. No equipment needed. Elk are out and about this misty morning!

Did you know that elk are also known by the Indigenous name, Wapiti, meaning white rump? In other areas of the world like Europe and Asia elk is what they call the animals we know as moose.

Sat, May 30: Story of Pikes Peak Hike
10 a.m.-12 p.m. Meet at Elk Meadow Trailhead
Take in beautiful views of the west side of Pikes Peak on this 2 mile hike. Along the way hear about how Pikes Peak was formed, the people who’ve climbed it over history and how it became America’s mountain.

Sat, May 30: Sensory Hike
1-2:30 p.m. Meet at Outlook Ridge Trailhead
Do you know what a Ponderosa Pine smells like? Have you ever noticed the color of your hand after touching an aspen tree? Use your sense of sight, touch, hearing and smell to connect to nature in new ways on this 1 mile hike.

Sun, May 31: Junior Rangers at the Pond
11 a.m.-12 p.m. Meet at Peak View Trailhead
Have you ever wanted to learn more about the ponds and critters at Mueller State Park? Investigate aquatic life in the park and become a Junior Ranger. Children and their grown ups should attend together. There is limited parking at Peak View trailhead. Homestead trailhead and the Comfort Station are close by and have lots of parking.

Wed, May 20: Basic Fly Fishing
10 a.m.-12 p.m. Meet at Dragonfly Pond Parking Lot
Learn how to fly fish and how it’s different from other styles like bait fishing, trolling, and spinning. Use your new or seasoned skills to try to catch a fish at one of Mueller’s favorite ponds. All gear is provided. Best for ages 10 and older.

Wed, May 20: Cheesman Ranch Hike
1-4 p.m. Meet at Grouse Mountain Trailhead
Get in some distance with this roughly 6.5 mile hike. See the many habitats in the park like forests, meadows and valleys as you pass the historic Cheesman Ranch and Dynamite Cabin.

Sat, May 23: Archery
(Registration required on weekend dates)
10 a.m.-12 p.m. Meet at Dragonfly Pond Parking Lot
Test your skills or try a new one at this beginner archery class. All supplies are provided, simply come with your listening ears and a good attitude. All ages are welcome; bows have a draw weight of 6-20lbs. A nerf bow station will be available for those unable to pull back the bow string. Some adaptable equipment is available.
