Fall Festival -- FREE Event!

National School Bus Safety Week is October 19th through the 23rd, 2026. Teaching children to follow safety rules on the bus is just as important as informing drivers about the laws regarding school buses. Use these resources to provide your community with safety messages to keep children safe on and off the school bus. 🚌

The acronym S.A.F.E. is used for school bus safety. It reminds both children and parents how to stay safe while waiting for, boarding, and exiting the bus.

S - Safety Rule: Stay back at least 5 to 10 giant steps (or feet) away from the curb or road while waiting for the bus.
A - Always wait for the bus to come to a complete stop and for the driver to signal before stepping close or boarding.
F - Face forward and remain seated quietly once you are inside the bus to avoid distracting the driver.
E - Exiting safely: Walk 5 giant steps in front of the bus, make eye contact with the driver, and wait for their signal before crossing the street.

On this the 31st anniversary of his LODD, we honor and remember the service and sacrifice of Teller County Sheriff's Office Deputy Brent A. Holloway. Our hearts and prayers go out to your family, both blood and blue. We will never forget.

Deputy Holloway, age 27, was shot and killed by an arson suspect who had earlier stated he was going to kill a police officer. The suspect had set fire to a large home in Teller County with the intention of getting revenge for previously being sent to prison.

As Deputy Holloway guarded the home while awaiting the arson investigators, the suspect snuck up from behind and shot him in the back of the head.

The suspect stole Deputy Holloway's service weapon and used it commit su***de two days later.

Deputy Holloway was survived by his wife, mother, and three siblings. 💙

Don't forget to sign up for our vaccine clinic in Victor this Saturday, 12pm to 2pm.

We will take walks in, but we want to make sure we bring enough supplies, and signing up early helps us with that.
