All,

Today marks the 25th anniversary of when our nation was attacked on September 11th. On that day, Dix Hills Fire Department lost my father, First Assistant Chief Terry Farrell. He was a decorated veteran of the FDNY assigned to the elite unit Rescue 4—a company designed to perform complex technical rescues, assist trapped civilians or firefighters, and handle high-risk emergencies. He never boasted about his service, most people remember him as a strong, gentle giant. His story is just one example of the countless stories from that day of ordinary people doing extraordinary things. Today may we remeber him, and reflect upon all those we lost that day and since.
