ALERT: Motorists are advised to drive with extreme caution. Due to extremely cold temperatures, the effectiveness of salt on icy conditions is very limited. Additionally, ice may be present under freshly fallen snow, creating dangerous driving situations.

During regular winter conditions, salt lowers the freezing temperature of water, which prevents ice or frost forming on the roadway. The higher the concentration of salt, the lower the temperature at which freezing will occur. Generally, on the roads, salt loses its effectiveness once the temperature falls below 14 degrees Fahrenheit, because ice and snow quickly refreezes.

Please drive with extreme caution, keep extra space between your car and other vehicles, stop early, and drive slow.
