Did you know the Athletic Booster club donates tens of thousands of dollars back into DHS each year? Did you know they are entirely volunteer run? We learned all this and more from the energetic and educational Karla Belzer! Next time you buy your pork chop and popcorn at a home game you can rest easy knowing your money supports our kids and their athletics! 🏈 ⚽️ 🏃

What a captivating and educational presentation this morning from Emily Drew, a med student who helps run Rockford’s Street Medicine program! In just a few short months they’ve positively helped hundreds of unhoused people by providing medical care, prescriptions, and building relationships. Thank you for sharing with us this morning and thank you for the work you do!

Shout out to Water Castle Car Wash for supporting our club and sharing the BEST (and we mean it) peaches around!

🍑 FREE PEACHES TOMORROW! 🍑

We were happy to support the Kiwanis Club of Dixon’s annual peach fundraiser this year by purchasing several cases of fresh Eckert’s peaches, and we figured we’d share them with our customers!

Money raised from the fundraiser goes right back into the Dixon community, supporting scholarships, local schools, playgrounds, the food pantry, YMCA, Habitat for Humanity, and more.

Tomorrow we’ll be handing out FREE peaches at both our Dixon and Freeport locations while supplies last! 🍑

Stop by for a wash and grab a peach from the team!

For nearly 75 years the Illinois-Eastern Iowa District of Kiwanis has supported KNRF (The Kiwanis Neuroscience Research Foundation)! We’re thankful for the history lesson and learning about all the things researchers have done with grants from the foundation. Thank you, Geoff, for sharing your passion about KNRF!

This morning our group met at the Kiwanis Shelter at Ballou Park! On the 5th Wednesday of the month we discuss club business, so we brainstormed ways to better connect with members and serve the community. We’re grateful to member, Anthony Windau, for making breakfast! A multitalented guy (I’m the one writing this 🤣)

Thank you to Katie Pratt of the Lee County Fair board for sharing with us all about this weekend’s fair! It takes a lot of hard work and dedication to make these things happen and from what we heard, it’ll be another show stopper of a fair! Certainly blue ribbon worthy! 😁 Kiwanians were particularly interested in learning about mud pie making and butter carving. Maybe one of us will enter??
