Dixon Family Services (DFS) was founded in 1984 and over the years we have grown in our services as well as our target populations to include families, hom
eless families, seniors, veterans and individuals of all ages. DFS is a private non-profit social services agency. We provide tools and resources to help community members become more successful in their lives. Some of the tools include counseling, case management, basic needs services such as housing, food and utilities, life skills workshops, budgeting, home visits and referrals. Most of the people we serve are of low to very low-income status, but our services are available to all community members. Many are people who find themselves in need of services and benefit programs for the first time ever. We can provide information and referrals and linkages when clients ask for resources that are not provided at our agency. Dixon Family Services is much more than a Family Resource Center. In addition to the 8 - 15 member staff, there are representatives on site an average of once a week from MediCal, CalWORKs, Food Stamps, Section 8, Legal Services of Northern California, Covered California, Food Bank Produce Program and many others. The WIC program is at our site Mondays through Fridays. Dixon Family Services is very involved in the community with collaborations and MOUs with the schools, police, City of Dixon, all other service providers, Chamber, churches, and many youth and adult service organizations. To summarize the strengths of Dixon Family Services, we have an excellent understanding of, and are very involved in the community we serve. We have very committed and caring staff members that stretch themselves to help clients. We are very proud to have a friendly staff that treats all clients with dignity and respect.
