We are incredibly thankful to the Scott County Regional Authority for awarding our department grant funding to purchase additional SCBAs (Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus)! 🚒🔥

With the addition of new members to our department, the need for additional equipment was significant. This grant will help ensure our firefighters have the proper equipment to safely respond when our community needs us most. 🧑‍🚒🛡️❤️

Training Day: Annual Hose Testing 🚒💦

On July 25th, members of the Dixon Volunteer Fire Department spent part of our training day putting our hose through the test — literally!

Each year, we inspect and test our fire hose to make sure it is reliable and ready to perform when we need it most. Hose is one of the most critical pieces of equipment we use on a fire scene, and finding a problem during training is far better than discovering one during an emergency.

Regular testing helps identify damage, wear, or weaknesses before they can become a serious problem — helping protect our firefighters and the communities we serve.

Training like this may not always be the most exciting part of the job, but it is essential to maintaining readiness and preventing catastrophic hose failures on scene.
