EXTRA! EXTRA!

The wait is over! Mary’s Yarns’ 2026 Pinwheel Quilt is complete and will be on display beginning Monday, August 10, at the Dobbs Ferry Public Library.

Mary’s Yarns, a community crafting group sponsored by the Friends of the Dobbs Ferry Library, meets throughout the year to create a beautiful handmade quilt. Each completed quilt is raffled, with 100% of the proceeds benefiting library programs and services.

September is approaching fast, which means is just around the corner! Is your library ready?

This year’s theme is “A Library Card Hits All the Right Notes,” and we hope you encourage your communities to B sharp and sign up for a library card. ALA has resources to help your library celebrate all September, including free graphics in English and Spanish, sample proclamations and press releases, outreach ideas, and official merchandise for purchase.

Summer Reading has begun and runs from June 3 through August 14! This year's theme is "Unearth a Story."

Children – you can earn points and prizes by reading books and coming to our events. Everyone who participates will get a ticket to our outdoor ice cream party in August! This page will tell you everything you need to know about participating if your child is between the ages of 3 and 12. (Younger kids might want to take on the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten challenge!) Have questions? Email children’s librarian Gina at [email protected].

Adults - Summer Reading Bingo is back in 2026! This year’s summer reading program is themed “Unearth A Story” with a focus on dinosaurs, archaeology, paleontology, and gardening – but your reading choices can go beyond the theme. The goal is to further grow your love of reading. Each Bingo row comes with its own prize. All participants will be entered into a drawing for a “dino-mite” gift basket at the end of the summer. We’re delighted to support the many innovative and engaging programs at the Dobbs Ferry Public Library.

This week is the Children’s Summer Reading Game Kickoff with Greenburgh Nature Center, Wednesday, June 24 from 2 - 3 PM. It’s all part of the Unearth a Story! summer reading theme that runs through August 14 for children 3 to 12.
