Iowa County WI Land Conservation Department

Iowa County WI Land Conservation Department The Iowa County Land Conservation Department is here to assist farmers and rural landowners with conservation of soil, water, and other natural resources.

We’re here to help. We can provide information, technical assistance, cost-sharing, and an income tax incentive for farmers that implement soil, water, and nutrient conservation practices. Agriculture has deep roots in the history, character, and economy of Iowa County. Together we can maintain productive farms, clean water, and rural beauty of Iowa County for generations to come.

The “Badger State” is a fascinating place with many different natural landscapes…which is your favorite?

If you travel north through Wisconsin, you can’t help but notice many changes as you travel through gently rolling hills and grasslands, to open sandy soil with pines and, eventually, the great Northwoods. From the Mississippi River’s edge to the shores of the Great Lakes, there’s a ton of variety – and for good reason.

This map shows Wisconsin’s 16 “ecological landscapes.” These areas were outlined based on physical and biological factors like climate, geology, topography, soil, water and vegetation. Combined, these different factors have resulted in many interesting attributes. Each of these landscapes has its own characteristic features, from a globally significant concentration of lakes in the Northern Highlands to the drumlins of the Southeast Glacial Plains, to the remnant prairies of the Southwest Savanna and much more.

Invasive stiltgrass was found in July in Rock County. We need people in southern Wisconsin to search for stiltgrass and report it if you find it.
