Drone Photos

Our drone team was in the air today documenting storm damage along Section Line Road, CTH DD, and Mounds Park Road. The images captured extensive impacts, including multiple downed utility poles, power lines on the ground, and significant tree damage in several locations.

As another round of storms approaches the area, we want to recognize the utility crews, highway departments, emergency responders, and public works personnel who continue working long hours under difficult conditions to restore services and clear hazards. Their efforts are making a difference across Iowa County.

Please continue to use caution when traveling. Never approach downed power lines, and be prepared for changing weather conditions as additional storms are forecast for the region. The National Weather Service is monitoring the potential for additional severe weather across parts of the Upper Midwest.

Thank you to everyone working behind the scenes to keep our communities safe. Stay weather aware and give crews plenty of room to work.

Community Safety Message

These photos show the inside of a Dodgeville apartment building after today's storm tore away a large portion of the roof. While the property damage is extensive, we are incredibly thankful that residents took weather warnings seriously and sought shelter when alerts were issued.

Today's storm is a powerful reminder that weather warnings are issued to protect lives. The damage shown here happened in a matter of moments. Had residents ignored the warnings or delayed taking shelter, the outcome could have been much worse.

As we look ahead, forecasters are warning of the potential for additional severe weather over the next 24 hours. Now is the time to prepare:

β€’ Pay attention to watches and warnings issued by the National Weather Service.
β€’ Have multiple ways to receive weather alerts, especially overnight.
β€’ Know where you will take shelter if a warning is issued.
β€’ Do not wait until you can see the storm approaching.
β€’ If a warning is issued, act immediately.

The residents affected by today's storm made the right decision by taking the warnings seriously. Their actions serve as an example for all of us as more dangerous weather remains possible.

Please stay weather-aware, stay prepared, and encourage your family, friends, and neighbors to do the same. Property can be repaired. Lives cannot be replaced.

Deputies Arrest Driver for Sixth-Offense OWI Following Reckless Driving Complaint

TOWN OF MINERAL POINT, Wis. β€” On June 6, 2026, the Iowa County Sheriff's Office arrested Joan M. Delaney, 58, of Cuba City, following a traffic stop on USH 151 in the Town of Dodgeville.

At approximately 9:00 p.m., Iowa County Dispatch received a report of a silver SUV traveling northbound on USH 151 in the Town of Mineral Point that was reportedly weaving across traffic lanes and crossing the center line. A deputy located the vehicle and observed several traffic violations, including lane deviations, crossing the center line, and nearly striking a guardrail.

After initiating a traffic stop in the Town of Dodgeville, the deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Joan M. Delaney, and based on the deputy's investigation Delaney was arrested and referred on the following charges:

β€’ Operating While Intoxicated (5th or 6th Offense), a felony
β€’ Operating While Revoked Due to Alcohol-Related Offenses, a misdemeanor
β€’ Ignition Interlock Device Violation, a misdemeanor

A probation hold was placed following the arrest.

The Iowa County Sheriff's Office reminds motorists that impaired driving endangers everyone on Wisconsin roadways. Citizens are encouraged to report suspected impaired drivers by calling 911 when it is safe to do so.

A New Chapter for Public Safety in the Village of Ridgeway

The Iowa County Sheriff's Office is excited to begin a new partnership with the Village of Ridgeway as we work together to continue providing professional, responsive, and community-focused law enforcement services.

We understand that change can bring questions and uncertainty, especially when a local police department or marshal's office transitions to a new model of service. The Village of Ridgeway has a proud history, and we recognize the importance of maintaining the relationships, trust, and community connections that residents have come to value over the years.

As part of this transition, Deputy Alex Cejpek will be assigned to Ridgeway on a temporary basis, approximately 32 hours a week, through the beginning of July. Deputy Cejpek has proudly served with the Iowa County Sheriff's Office for the past 7Β½ years and brings a wealth of experience, professionalism, and dedication to community policing.

Deputy Cejpek will help ensure a smooth transition while we prepare for the assignment of a long-term deputy who will serve the Village of Ridgeway beginning in July. During this time, residents are encouraged to introduce themselves, share concerns, and help us continue building strong partnerships within the community.

Our goal is simple: to provide reliable law enforcement services while remaining accessible, approachable, and engaged with the people we serve.

We are excited for this new journey with the Village of Ridgeway and look forward to working together to keep the community safe and strong for years to come.

Please join us in welcoming Deputy Cejpek to Ridgeway! We know that you'll really like Deputy Cejpek and our long term deputy that will be introduced after the first of July.
