In preparation for our county’s 200th anniversary in 2029, Iowa County, the Dodgeville VFW, and the Legion are collaborating to enhance the area surrounding the Iowa County Courthouse. The planned improvements will highlight the four key elements of this region of the state: Mining, Agriculture, History, and Scenic Beauty.
Mining and Agriculture will be showcased at the back of the courthouse, while Scenic Beauty and History will be highlighted in the front. This landscaping effort is a major undertaking, with the veteran's memorial serving as a significant tribute to our county’s veterans and rich history.
Public Assistance Needed
To make this project a success, we are seeking community support.
Agricultural and Mining Equipment Needed
We are looking for donations (or temporary display agreements) of old agricultural equipment to display as part of the project. Examples include rusty plows, historic tractors, farm vehicles, and other vintage machinery. These items do not necessarily need to be very old, but in honor of the 200th anniversary, we would love to showcase historical pieces that represent our region’s past. If possible, the county would also like to include a sign describing the history of each donated item.
Additionally, we are searching for mining equipment to include in the display. If you have an item sitting in storage or in the back forty, and you wouldn’t mind lending it to us for this project, we would love to hear from you.
Fundraising Campaign
To help fund this project, the county along with the Dodgeville VFW and Legion, are launching a fundraising campaign, with a major focus on the veteran's memorial upgrade—a centerpiece of this initiative.
One of the primary fundraising efforts is our Donation Brick Program.
Donation Brick Program
A Donation Brick is a lasting tribute to honor veterans at the Iowa County Veterans Memorial. Each brick is engraved with a personal message, name, or dedication and placed in the Plaza area to recognize the service and sacrifice of those who have served. Proceeds from the brick sales help cover construction costs, ensuring the memorial is built, maintained, and preserved for future generations.
VFW Post 7345 and the Dodgeville Legion are actively assisting with fundraising efforts for these donation bricks.
If your organization is interested in supporting this project through fundraising, please reach out for further details.
