Thank you dispatchers for all you do!

This week we celebrate National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week 2026 and honor the 14 dedicated dispatchers of the Montezuma Cortez Dispatch Center. They answer nearly 60,000 calls a year, provide lifesaving guidance, and support every police, fire, and EMS agency in Montezuma County while working around the clock to keep our community safe. Thank you to the unseen heroes who never stop listening.

List your medications, the code to your garage, your pets, emergency contact info, and any other critical information that emergency responders may need to react quickly and possibly save your life at home or while traveling.

About the plants around you, especially those that may harm you
An increased awareness of man-made hazards in the wild
How to identify, manage, and mitigate risks from dangerous wildlife encounters
Techniques to gain an increased situational awareness
