Celebrating Juneteenth: A Message of Unity, Respect, and Progress

Dear Dolton Residents,

Today, we come together to commemorate Juneteenth, a day of profound historical significance that marks the emancipation of the last enslaved African Americans in the United States. This day is a reminder of our shared history and the ongoing journey toward equality and justice for all.

As your mayor, I am committed to fostering a community where every individual feels valued, respected, and heard. Juneteenth is not only a celebration of freedom but also an opportunity to reflect on our collective responsibility to build a more inclusive and compassionate society.

In Dolton, we are a tapestry of diverse cultures, backgrounds, and experiences. This diversity is our strength, and it is through understanding and respecting one another that we can truly thrive. Today, let us honor the resilience and contributions of Black Americans and recommit ourselves to the principles of equality and justice.

I encourage each of you to take time to learn about the history of Juneteenth, participate in community events, and engage in conversations that promote understanding and unity. Let us use this day to bridge divides, heal wounds, and strengthen the bonds that hold us together as a community.

May we move forward with love, respect, and a renewed commitment to justice. Together, we can create a village where everyone feels they belong and are empowered to reach their full potential.

With heartfelt respect and hope,

Tiffany A Henyard
Mayor of Dolton

On this Memorial Day, let us take a moment to support and appreciate our current service members and veterans, who continue to uphold the legacy of those who have gone before them. Their resilience and strength inspire us all. May we all come together to honor the fallen, celebrate our freedoms, and commit ourselves to the ongoing pursuit of peace and justice for all.

With heartfelt gratitude,
Mayor Tiffany A Henyard
