This weekend, first responders from across Ripley County came together with one shared mission, helping our community by installing smoke alarms in local homes.

Ripley county and Doniphan firefighters, Ripley county ambulance district, and the Ripley county sheriffs office worked side by side to make sure more families have that early warning they need in the event of a fire. A working smoke alarm can make all the difference, giving families precious extra time to escape during an emergency.

A huge thank you to everyone who dedicated their time and effort to this important community outreach event. We are so lucky to work along some of the best!

Another thank you to American Red Cross for working with us and making this possible!

Happy EMS Week from your local, rural ambulance crew 🚑🤪
Where: dispatch says “you know… out by Fat Rats”
patients give directions like “turn where the skating rink USED to be”
someone’s grandma already knows the EMT’s full life story before they even load the cot.
and there’s a 98% chance the ambulance crew either went to school with you, is related to you, or helped you in an ice storm or tornado at some point in the past.

Small town EMS may not be glamorous, but we’ll still show up at 3AM, dodge deer, survive gravel roads, and somehow find your house with directions like “the trailer with the blue tarp beside the dog that barks a lot.”
Happy EMS Week to the crews doing the absolute most with caffeine, dark humor, and questionable gas station meals ❤️🚑

But on a real note, we appreciate our crews more than words can say. Thank you for the long nights, missed holidays, hard calls, and the compassion you show this community every single day. Rural EMS runs on grit & heart, and we’re lucky to have some of the very best. ❤️

We are proud to announce that Cheyanne Crain from our very own department has been named PARAMEDIC OF THE YEAR by Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center!

This award recognizes Cheyanne’s patient care, compassion, and dedication to both the community she serves here in Ripley County and the EMS profession as a whole.

Cheyanne consistently goes above and beyond for her patients, coworkers, and community. Her commitment to making things better, her professionalism, and her kindness makes her an incredible asset to the EMS world and we are so lucky to have her.

Congratulations Cheyanne, on this well deserved award! Your hard work and heart for serving others never goes unnoticed. 🚑🏆❤️
