WPA grew out of my relationship with Valley County Idaho to develop a local Firewise program. The combination of Education, Hazard Fuels Mitigation and Prevention techniques have resulted in a very aware community. The progress over the past ten years has been rewarding and even more so now that I'm the sole proprietor of WPA.

Our Story

Wildfire Prevention Associates is the brain child of 22 year Roseberry resident Stephanie Nelson. The Valley County Board of County Commissioners wanted a Firewise program and we gave it to them. The combination of Education, Hazard Fuels Mitigation and Prevention techniques have resulted in a very aware community. The progress over the past fourteen years is rewarding. Homeowners are better informed and proactive. We see a growth of Community Leaders interested in inspiring their neighborhood to become Firewise. We see neighbors working together, hosting clean up days, becoming aware of risks and hazards and understanding who is in their community in the event of an evacuation. WPA also implements the County wide Mobile Risk Assessment (MRA) project which assesses every structure for wildfire risk and identifies opportunities to improve the Home Ignition Zone by homeowners. As facilitator of the Valley County Fire Working Group, WPA brings representatives from all local land management and fire agencies to one table. The result is a unified, cohesive approach to reducing wildfire risk throughout the County. You may see a MRA assessor in your community this summer. Your cooperation will only improve the information utilized in your home assessment. Be Fire Smart, Do Your Part!!
