We Are Here — You Are Not Alone
Our community and our local schools have experienced some heartbreaking losses involving our young people. There are no easy words for the pain that families, friends, classmates, teachers, and our entire community are experiencing.
I want every young person in our community to know something very important: You are not alone, and you don’t have to face difficult times by yourself.
If you’re struggling, hurting, feeling overwhelmed, or simply need someone to talk to, please reach out. You can talk to a parent, teacher, coach, counselor, trusted friend, pastor, law enforcement officer, or another adult you trust.
You can also reach out to us at the Dora Police Department. You don’t have to be in trouble, and you don’t have to have all the answers. If you need someone to listen, we are here. If you need professional help, we will help connect you with the people and resources who can.

Parents, please talk to your kids. Ask them how they’re doing—and really listen to their answer. Sometimes simply knowing that someone cares enough to ask can make a difference.
And to our young people: Your life matters. You matter. There are people who care about you, even when it may not feel that way.
Please don’t be afraid to ask for help. There is no shame in saying, “I’m not okay.”
We are a community, and we will get through difficult times together.
