🏘️ With the new privatized housing project across from under construction, a significant influx of military-connected children is expected to enroll in local schools.

🩺 The Army Health Clinic, SOUTHCOM recently conducted an educational outreach event at the installation's zoned local high school, J.C. Bermudez Doral Senior High School. This event provided students with critical life-saving trauma skills and professional insights into medical coding careers.

🤝 A team from J.C. Bermudez Doral Senior High also visited U.S. Army Garrison - Miami to meet with our School Liaison Officer to learn all about the unique lifestyle of military families.

Last week, Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) held its Armed Forces Signing Day, a ceremony dedicated to honoring juniors and seniors who have committed to military service. The event featured COL Willie Rodney, Headquarters Commandant and Army Element Commander at United States Southern Command, as the guest speaker.

"I think this was an ingenious idea that is far overdue. Recognizing those who choose to serve is much deserved and I was humbled to be the guest speaker," said Rodney.

Beyond recognizing those entering service, M-DCPS actively supports military-connected children through the Purple Star School of Distinction program. This initiative ensures that students from military families receive the specialized resources they need to navigate the unique challenges of military life, such as frequent relocations and parental deployments.

💜 As April comes to a close today, we wrap up Child Abuse Prevention Month, but our commitment to the safety and well-being of our military children never ends. Protecting our youth is a continuous mission that requires the vigilance and support of every service member, civilian, and family member.

This month, the Army Community Service (ACS) Family Advocacy Program (FAP) provided resources to our community partnerships: Kristi House, Miami-Dade Public Library System (International Mall Branch), South Dade YMCA Family Center, as well as .

🎨 📚 These art and craft materials and educational items support FAP's mission of providing educational programming to help service members and their families be mission-ready by acquiring healthy skills for managing stress and preventing domestic and child abuse.

Strong communities build strong families, and we encourage everyone to remain engaged, supportive, and observant throughout the year.
