Thanks to the more than 100 neighbors and friends who helped with and/or attended our Oktoberfest and Pumpkin Carving on Saturday. The event was a huge success by all accounts. Shout out to Maribeth Diener for shepherding the festivities to fruition. Gratitude to the residents of Shenandoah Street for welcoming us, and a big Jack-O-Lantern smile to Leslie MacKinnon of MacKinnon and Company real estate for donating the pumpkins, all of which went, with happy faces, to new homes.🎃
We hope you will join us tomorrow evening for our monthly meeting.

ZBA hearing on 265 Minot St., October 25, 9:30 a.m.
The Zoning Board of Appeal will hold a virtual hearing on the proposal to build a 5-unit residential building at 265-265C Minot Street. The existing single-family house on the lot would be torn down. Access to off-street basement-level parking is via an easement on the adjacent property at 273 Minot St. A and A Minot LLC of Hanover own both parcels.
The developers presented their plan at the June 5 general meeting of Ashmont Adams Neighborhood Association.* The property is in a 2-family zone and those in attendance expressed concerns about the density of the project, especially given the narrowness of the lot and the recent construction of 6- and 9-unit residential buildings in the immediate vicinity that have impacted the neighborhood. No vote was taken, but we urge any residents who would like to comment on the project to submit a letter of support or opposition to the ZBA. We have attached sample letters for your convenience, or return your own letter signed with your name and address to us by October 20. We will forward them to the ZBA. (You can also submit them directly to [email protected]. Reference Case: BOA-1208535 Address: 265-265C Minot Street Ward 16 Applicant: James Christopher)
Instructions for attending and participating the virtual hearing are online at Zoning Board of Appeal Hearing | Boston.gov.
*The developers had previously presented a plan proposing 5 townhouse-style units to AANA. This plan replaces it.

Yesterday was a beautiful day for our Flag Raising! The annual flag raising ceremony was founded by the late great Patricia O’neill, former president of AANA and after a 2 year break, we were really happy to host it again this year. Retired army veteran John Poles was given the honor of raising the flag at Rundel Park. It was exciting to see so many neighbors and kids in our post COVID world. Thanks a bunch to the group at AANA, President Cindy Fadden, Mary Kelly, Mary Beth Diener and Top chef Barry Fadden, who once again took the grill. And thanks to John Schneiderman for the video and photos.
