Good Morning Freedom House Family 🫶🏾

Some people see a group photo. We see the future.

Young men that became brothers laughing, learning, growing, and showing up as themselves is powerful. In a world that often expects the worst, they continue to choose growth, community, and purpose. That’s not luck….that’s intentional.

Every day isn’t about having all the answers. Sometimes it’s just about showing up, staying consistent, and believing that who you’re becoming is worth the work.

“The goal isn’t to be perfect. The goal is to keep becoming.”
Keep building. Keep learning. Keep betting on yourself. We see you.

Good Morning Freedom House Family 🫶🏾

Never underestimate the power of giving back. The knowledge, experiences, and opportunities you’ve been given were never meant to stop with you; they were meant to be shared with the next generation.

The greatest legacy isn’t what you achieve; it’s who you empower.

A special shoutout to our specialists, Rasheed and Ahsad, two Freedom House alumni who have come full circle by investing in and impacting the next generation as Push High School Specialists at Boston Arts Academy. Your presence is a reminder that leadership doesn’t end at graduation; it grows through service.

As we close out another Mass Promise Fellowship service year, I want to recognize three remarkable individuals: Oza, Iverson, and Sha Lee

Freedom House has proudly served as a Mass Promise Fellow site for more than a decade, and over the years we have welcomed many talented fellows into our community. This year’s cohort stands among the very best.

Their impact has been felt not only by our staff, but by our partner schools and, most importantly, by the young people they serve every day. They have challenged students to grow, encouraged them to dream bigger, and helped them recognize strengths and possibilities within themselves.

The work of youth development is not always easy. It requires patience, consistency, compassion, and the courage to hold young people to high expectations. Oza, Iverson, and Sha Lee have done all of that with excellence.

Thank you for your service, your leadership, and your commitment to our scholars. We are grateful for the difference you have made at Freedom House and excited that you will continue supporting our young people this summer.

And a special congratulations to Sha Lee on her next chapter at Harvard. We are incredibly proud of you🥳🥳🥳🎉🎉🎉

Today, we pause to remember Mabinty Janneh.

At just 32 years old, Mabinty should still be here. Her life was cut short in an act of violence that has left her family, friends, loved ones, and our community grieving.

At Freedom House, we recognize that every life lost to violence leaves a lasting impact. Behind every headline is a person with dreams, relationships, purpose, and a future that deserved the opportunity to unfold. Mabinty was not a statistic. She was a daughter, a friend, a loved one, and a valued member of our community. Her life mattered.

As we honor her memory, we extend our deepest condolences to all who knew and loved her. We pray for comfort for her family, strength for those carrying this unimaginable loss, and peace for a community that continues to feel the weight of far too many lives taken too soon.

May Mabinty’s life be remembered, her memory be honored, and her loved ones be surrounded by care and support in the days ahead.🕊️

The world will always tell our young people to wait their turn. Here, we remind them they don’t have to wait to become leaders; they can start today.

Every question they ask, every skill they practice, and every time they choose to show up is another brick being laid for their future.

Progress isn’t always loud. Sometimes it’s a quiet confidence growing day by day, until one day they realize they’ve become exactly who they were building toward all along. We’re not just creating programs; we’re creating possibilities.

Today, I want to take a moment to acknowledge our Goldenairre, Ms. Jumaada Smith for her unwavering commitment to our community. Year after year, she brings history to life through her leadership of Juneteenth celebrations, creating spaces where education, culture, remembrance, and community come together.

Her work reminds us that Juneteenth is not simply a date on a calendar. It is an opportunity to honor the struggles, resilience, contributions, and triumphs of those who came before us while educating future generations about the importance of freedom and justice.

Thank you, Ms. Jumaada, for the countless hours, the vision, and the heart you pour into this work. Our community is stronger because of your dedication, and we are grateful for the legacy you continue to build.”

Happy Juneteenth.

Today we pause to honor the ancestors who carried hope through unimaginable hardship and dared to believe that freedom would one day come.

Their story is not only history. It is legacy.

Every opportunity, every achievement, every act of courage stands on the shoulders of those who kept moving forward when the road was uncertain.

Today is a reminder that freedom is more than a moment. It is the ongoing work of living with purpose, protecting our well-being, speaking truth, and building a future worthy of their sacrifice.

May we rest without guilt.
May we lead without fear.
May we dream without limits. Happy Juneteenth.

Good Morning Freedom House Family 🫶🏾

Happy Juneteenth.

“Freedom isn’t just something we celebrate. It’s something we protect, pour into, and pass forward.”

Today is a reminder that progress didn’t happen overnight, and neither will the future we’re building. We honor the resilience, brilliance, and sacrifices of those who kept going, even when the road was uncertain. Juneteenth is more than a date on the calendar; it’s a call to remember our responsibility to each other. To create spaces where people belong, where communities thrive, and where the next generation knows their voice matters.

Because freedom isn’t only about looking back; it’s about being intentional with what we build moving forward.

Keep showing up. Keep pouring in. Keep creating change.
