𝐖𝐈𝐋𝐃𝐅𝐈𝐑𝐄 𝐒𝐌𝐎𝐊𝐄 & 𝐀𝐈𝐑 𝐐𝐔𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐘 𝐔𝐏𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐄
As of this morning, Siskiyou County’s overall Air Quality Index is approximately 26 𝐆𝐎𝐎𝐃 in the Yreka Area but 𝐔𝐍𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐋𝐓𝐇𝐘 in the Tulelake area. However, conditions vary by location, with some western communities reporting 𝐌𝐎𝐃𝐄𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐄 air quality. The Oregon wildfire smoke can move quickly and cause conditions to change throughout the day.
Residents- especially children, older adults, pregnant individuals, and people with heart or respiratory conditions- should monitor local conditions and reduce outdoor activity if smoke becomes heavy or causes symptoms.
If you smell smoke or see ash:
• Close windows and doors.
• Set vehicle and home air systems to recirculate.
• Avoid strenuous outdoor activity.
• Wear a properly fitted N95 if extended outdoor exposure is unavoidable.
