🚔 Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest and Recovery of Burglary Tools 🚔

On June 26, 2026, Officer Figueroa and Detective Coronado conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Blossom Street and Reynolds Avenue for an equipment violation.

During the stop, the driver, Alejandro Sanchez-Rivera, was identified as being on active Merced County probation for burglary and possession of stolen property. A probation search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of a large number of keys and additional tools commonly used in burglaries and vehicle thefts.

Sanchez-Rivera was also found to have outstanding out-of-county warrants and was taken into custody without incident.

The Dos Palos Police Department remains committed to proactive policing and working to prevent property crimes before they occur. Traffic enforcement and probation compliance checks are valuable tools that help remove offenders from our streets and enhance the safety of our community.

As we prepare to celebrate Independence Day, the City of Dos Palos Police Department encourages everyone to celebrate responsibly and make safety a priority.

🎆 Know the Law
Only State Fire Marshal-approved "Safe and Sane" fireworks are legal where permitted. Illegal fireworks—including aerial fireworks, firecrackers, Roman candles, bottle rockets, and mortars—are dangerous and increase the risk of serious injuries, fires, and property damage.

⚠️ Illegal Fireworks = Costly Consequences
Possession or use of illegal fireworks is a violation of Dos Palos Municipal Code (DPMC) 8.22.010 and may result in a $2,000.00 administrative fine, in addition to potential criminal charges.

🚗 Drive Sober
If your celebration includes alcohol or cannabis, designate a sober driver or arrange a safe ride home. Never drive under the influence.

🚸 Watch for Children & Pedestrians
Neighborhoods will be busy with families enjoying the holiday. Slow down, eliminate distractions, and stay alert.

🔥 Prevent Fires
Have a hose or bucket of water nearby when using legal fireworks and completely soak used fireworks before disposing of them. Never use fireworks near dry vegetation, homes, or vehicles.

📞 Report Emergencies
Call 9-1-1 to report fires, injuries, or other emergencies.

🚔 The City of Dos Palos Police Department will have additional officers on patrol throughout the holiday weekend to help keep our community safe. We appreciate your cooperation and ask everyone to celebrate responsibly so that everyone can enjoy a safe and memorable Independence Day.
