Houston County Road & Bridge

Houston County crews are busy during these dog days of summer. Just to name a few things that we are working on this week: Watson’s crew is working on the shoulders for Avon Rd and Broadway Ave after it’s been paved. Kenny’s crew is working on cleaning out ditches on South County Road 75. Mike’s crew is replacing a driveway on Lonnie Road. Scott and Patrick are on the saws on Hickory grove making it look much better. Mike E’s crew is zipping some base failures on BJ Mixon Road. Josh’s crew is backfilling for a cross-drain replacement on North County Road 55 in preparation for resurfacing that road. Last but surely not least, Lingo’s crew is putting the finishing touches on the Rehobeth pond project, hauling in the last bit of dirt needed. That’s just what’s happing today in Houston County. We can’t thank these guys enough for all of their hard work in this heat.

It’s going to be a hot one this week, and we are planning on taking full advantage of it out at the pond project in Rehobeth. Lingo has been working to dig the pond out to grade now that all of the mud is out of the way. Bowen is up on the green space building it up to grade using the clay from the pond. This project is starting to take shape, and it’s going to look great when it’s done.

We are making some progress on the pond project in Rehobeth. Lingo and Bowen’s crew have constructed a road to have access to the green space behind the pond and the pond is almost completely mucked out. These guys will have it knocked out in no time.

This week Houston County crews started digging a pond for a project for the town of Rehobeth. These guys love a challenge and if anyone can do it, they can. They’ve already made it this far in 2 days.

The maps below show the affected area from the tornado on May 25th, 2026. Houston County has started debris pickup of storm damage in this area. Please have all storm debris out to the road by June 11th to ensure pickup without charges in the affected area.
