THE FACES OF HOMELESSNESS

Most people picture homelessness as someone standing on a street corner holding a sign.

But homelessness also looks like:

💔 The mother sleeping in her car after escaping domestic violence.

💔 The grandmother raising grandchildren on a fixed income.

💔 The veteran struggling to find affordable housing.

💔 The family living paycheck to paycheck, one emergency away from losing everything.

💔 The person working a full-time job while secretly sleeping in a motel.

Homelessness doesn't always look the way people think it does.

💚 Something To Think About...

Imagine you're a single parent with a child.

You work hard every day. You show up. You do everything you're supposed to do.

You earn $14 an hour and bring home about $800 every two weeks.

Your monthly bills look something like this:

🏠 Rent: $1,000
💡 Electricity: $150
🚗 Car Payment: $250
🛡️ Car Insurance: $150

That's $1,550 a month before you've bought groceries, paid for a phone, internet, gas, school expenses, or anything else your family needs.

You're surviving... but just barely.

Then December arrives.

A bitter cold snap hits and your power bill jumps to $600.

You don't pay it because you don't want to.

You don't pay it because you can't.

The lights get shut off.

Your lease says utility termination is grounds for eviction.

Now you're standing in court trying to explain a situation that started with one bill you couldn't afford.

You find another place to live, but there's a problem.

They require a credit check.

An eviction on your record.

First month's rent and a deposit.

Money you don't have.

Time runs out.

The locks are changed.

Now it's you, your child, and your car.

Someone reports your situation.

Your child is removed.

You lose your job.

Your belongings are stolen.

The homeless shelter is full.

And suddenly, the life you worked so hard to build is gone.

Not because you were lazy.

Not because you made terrible choices.

But because one unexpected crisis started a chain reaction.

Here's the truth:

Many of us are closer to homelessness than we'd like to admit.

Sometimes all it takes is:

📃 One unexpected bill
🚗 One accident
📉 One layoff
🏠 One house fire
🩺 One medical emergency

At Mz E's Heart Of Home, we believe every person deserves compassion, dignity, and support during life's hardest moments.

Homelessness can happen faster than most people realize.

Before judging someone's situation, remember:

You may not know their story.

Choose kindness.
Choose empathy.
Choose gratitude.

Because every person deserves a hand up when life knocks them down. 💚

✨ BUILDING WITH PURPOSE ✨

Sometimes the most important work happens when nobody is watching.

It's the planning.
The research.
The conversations.
The preparation.
The prayers.

At Mz E's Heart Of Home, we're committed to building a strong foundation because the women and children we hope to serve deserve more than temporary solutions.

They deserve a place where hope can be restored.
A place where dignity is protected.
A place where new beginnings can take root.

Every step may not be visible, but every step matters.

Thank you to everyone who continues to pray, encourage, and believe in this vision. Your support reminds us that we're not building alone.

We're trusting God's timing, staying focused on the mission, and continuing to move forward with purpose.

💚🧡 If this mission speaks to your heart, we invite you to keep us in your prayers as we continue laying the foundation for what's to come.

“Heavenly Father,

Thank you for every person who has prayed for, encouraged, supported, and believed in the vision of Mz E’s Heart Of Home.

As we continue building this foundation, we ask for wisdom, discernment, compassion, and integrity in every decision we make. Lead us toward the people, partnerships, and resources needed to truly serve women and children experiencing homelessness with love, dignity, and care.

We pray for every mother, every child, every family, and every person silently carrying heavy burdens right now. Remind them that they are not forgotten.

And to everyone walking alongside this mission through prayer, encouragement, or support… thank you. Your kindness matters more than you know 🤍

Jehovah God in the name of Jesus Christ we pray
Amen.”

People often think nonprofit work starts when the doors open.

Truthfully…
it starts long before that.

It starts with prayer.
Planning.
Policies.
Conversations.
Research.
Late nights.
Faith.
And making sure the mission is strong enough to truly serve people the right way.

Mz E’s Heart Of Home is being built with intention because the women and children we hope to serve deserve more than temporary help.

They deserve stability.
Dignity.
Care.
And a foundation that lasts.

Thank you to everyone continuing to pray, support, encourage, and believe in this vision. 🤍
