🚨“UNITED DELIVERY SERVICE” PHONE CALLS SCAM ALERT

Be cautious of calls from someone claiming to be with "United Delivery Service” saying they need to deliver legal documents.

These scams may include fake case numbers, urgent threats, or requests to call back and provide personal information or payment.

Do not call back, share personal information, or send money. If you receive a suspicious call like this, report it to the Better Business Bureau Scam Tracker ( https://www.bbb.org/scamtracker ) and the FCC ( https://consumercomplaints.fcc.gov/hc/en-us ).

Please share this warning with older adults, family members, and friends.

🚨 SCAM ALERT: We have been made aware of an unsolicited letter being sent to Medicare beneficiaries advertising a Medicare Annual Wellness Visit from home.

The letter directs the recipient to call a phone number or scan a QR code to complete the visit. If you receive a letter like this, do NOT scan the QR code or use the contact information provided in the letter. QR codes from unverified sources can direct you to fraudulent websites or put your personal information and device security at risk.

We're sharing examples of the letter so you know what to watch for.

If you receive unexpected communication claiming to be from Medicare and aren't sure it's legitimate, contact SARCOA's Senior Medicare Patrol at 334-793-6843 to verify it before providing any information or taking action.

Please share this warning. The more people who recognize scams like this, the harder it becomes for scammers to succeed.

🚨 SCAM ALERT: Please warn the older adults in your life.

We've been made aware of a concerning scam happening in our community. Fraudsters are posing as law enforcement officers and telling older adults they must withdraw thousands of dollars in cash to avoid going to jail.

Even more alarming: the scammer may offer to come to the person's HOME to pick up the money.

Please remember:

❌ Legitimate law enforcement will not demand cash to keep you out of jail.
❌ Do not give a caller your address or tell them where you live.
❌ Do not withdraw or hand over money because someone is threatening you.

If someone makes this kind of demand, hang up and contact your local law enforcement agency directly.

This scam isn't only a threat to someone's finances. It can put their personal safety at risk if a stranger comes to their home.

Please share this post and talk about it with the older adults in your life. A quick conversation today could prevent someone from becoming a victim tomorrow.

🥵 The temperatures are rising, and so is the need. Extreme heat can be especially dangerous for older adults.

That's why The JOY FM & SARCOA's Fans for Life campaign is working to provide new box fans to seniors throughout the Wiregrass who need a little extra help staying cool this summer.

Together, we can help our neighbors stay safer, healthier, and more comfortable during the hottest days of the year.

Aging Is Living 2026 brought together caregivers, professionals, advocates, and community partners with one shared goal: helping older adults and those living with dementia live well and making sure the people who care for them are supported along the way.

To everyone who attended, exhibited, spoke, volunteered, and worked behind the scenes to make this day possible: THANK YOU!

Your time, knowledge, compassion, and commitment made this conference what it was.

A huge thank-you to First United Methodist Church of Dothan, the Rosemary House, and Respite Care Ministry for welcoming us and helping us create such a special day.
