Double Oak Town Hall

Double Oak Town Hall About the Town of Double Oak, it's activities and information. To our west…well, that’s pretty much open country! Today the population is about 3,100.

Our little gem is located just west of Flower Mound, and bordered by FM-407 (Justin Road) to the north and FM-1171 (Cross Timbers Road) to the south. To our east is the Highland Village Shopping area with excellent theaters, well respected retailers and very popular restaurants. On May 25, 1974, Double Oak became a town – population 243. Double Oak is defined as a General Law City and is restricte

d to single family residences with a minimum 1-acre lot size. Residents govern Double Oak represented by a mayor and a town council of five members. The Council meets the first and third Mondays of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Town Hall; and residents are encouraged to attend. The Double Oak Municipal Court meets the first Wednesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. Double Oak is protected 24-hours a day, 365 days a year, by a full-time law enforcement team and highly experienced volunteer fire department. In any emergency, Double Oak residents can dial 911 to receive a dispatcher at the Denton County Sheriff’ s Department. Our fire department is funded by residents’ donations, the Double Oak Women’s Club, and our annual Fourth of July Festivities. Interested in helping out? The Double Oak Volunteer Fire Department always welcomes new volunteers!

Dear Cross Timbers Water Supply Corporation Members,

Stage 4 Water Demand Plan

We will be moving into Stage 4 immediately due to the break at Copper Canyon Rd on the water main that is feeding the 407 Tower. The contractors are continuing to assist us in getting repairs completed as soon as possible.

As of this afternoon, the leak severity has been upgraded, thus we need everyone to turn off their sprinkler irrigation with the exception of members using a private well to irrigate.

All members will move to the Stage 4 watering schedule of our water demand management program. The repairs should be completed soon and once they are, we will send out a notice once the system is back up to full capacity.

We appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain water service for everyone. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the office at 940-584-0780.

Shiloh Road Construction – April 29th through May 29th

The town of Double Oak, our community, was notified yesterday 4/30 of the Shiloh Road construction. If you, as a regular traveler on this route, could kindly take note of the following, it would greatly contribute to the smooth ex*****on of this project.

Beginning April 29th, Reynold’s Asphalt Company will begin the reconstruction of Shiloh Road between Cross Timbers Road (FM 1171) and Kings Road.

The southbound lane will close first and be detoured onto Kings Road, which will lead back to Cross Timbers Road. The northbound lane of Shiloh will be one-way heading north. Upon completion, the southbound lane will be opened, and the northbound lane will be closed. Lusk Lane will be the detour route for northbound Shiloh Road.

Weather permitting, the work is expected to be completed by May 29th, 2024.

The Christmas Tree dumpster has arrived at Double Oak Town Hall for Double Oak residents only to use for disposal of Live Christmas Trees that have been stripped of decorations only please!

Check out Republic Services’ handy guide to disposing of holiday decorations and information below.

Real Christmas Trees
As long as tinsel, ornaments, and lights are removed first, your real Christmas tree doesn’t have to go to the landfill, but it does require special care to be turned into mulch or compost. Check RepublicServices.com for more information about Christmas tree pickups or drop-off locations (like Double Oak Town Hall while available for residents).

Artificial Christmas Trees
The main benefit of an artificial tree is that it lasts for many years and is a mess-free alternative to a real tree. However, if your tree is on its last legs, don’t throw it in the recycling bin! We recommend donating it or repurposing it into a DIY wreath or decorative arrangement first. Artificial trees are usually made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC), which is not recyclable.

Holiday Lights
String lights should never be recycled. They can spool around the equipment at recycling facilities and cause a lot of damage. If you can’t reuse them next year, it’s better to throw them out.

Tinsel & Ornaments
Tinsel and ornaments are not recyclable either. If you can’t donate or repurpose them, toss them in the garbage.

Please do not leave anything on the ground.
