This National Police Week, I want to say thank you to every law enforcement officer serving across our nation and here in the Free State of Winston. Thank you for the sacrifices you and your families make every single day. Your courage, dedication, and commitment to protecting Winston County do not go unnoticed.

To the men and women who wear the badge with integrity, honor, and professionalism, thank you for answering the call to serve. And to the fallen officers who gave everything in the line of duty, we will never forget your sacrifice. May God continue to watch over the brave men and women serving Winston County and communities across this country.

On May 6th, 7th, & 8th 2026 the Winston County Sheriff's Office and the Haleyville Police Department collaborated on a joint investigation stemming from a reported incident of shots being fired from a moving vehicle in the Newburg Road area of Haleyville. During the course of the investigation, multiple thefts and burglaries within both city and county jurisdictions were solved.

Anthony Robert Olan, 27, of Haleyville, was charged with the following offenses:
-Distribution of Controlled Substance
-Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
-Theft of Property in the First Degree (2 counts)
-Burglary in the Third Degree (2 counts)
-Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree (2 counts)
-Possession of Burglary Tools
-Hunting on a Public Road.

The joint investigation resulted in the recovery of numerous items, including fi****ms, hunting gear, and a UTV, which were returned to their rightful owners.

A quantity of 8.52 grams of methamphetamine was seized from Mr. Olan at the time of initial contact. Through collaborative efforts, significant progress is achieved for the Free State of Winston.
