PUBLIC SAFETY TELECOMMUNICATOR
Converse County Joint Communications Center in Douglas, Wyoming is seeking applicants for the position of Public Safety Telecommunicator. This is a full-time position with a starting hourly wage of $26.07 with no prior experience. Salary will be adjusted for applicants with prior experience. Night shift Telecommunicatiors receive a $2 an hour night differential. The communications center currently services six agencies to include; Douglas Police Department, Converse County Sheriff’s Office, Search and Rescue, Douglas Volunteer Fire Department, Converse County Rural Fire and Converse County Memorial Hospital Ambulance. Our center consists of four stations with 14 positions which include the manager, supervisors, specialists, and frontline positions.
Converse County Joint Communications Center is open 24/7, 365 days a year. Telecommunicators are required to work rotating shifts which includes days, swings, and grave shifts on weekdays, weekends and holidays.
Telecommunicator duties include, but are not limited to, answering 9-1-1 & administrative telephones, dispatching information to emergency personnel via radio, & documenting information via Computer-Aided Dispatch and other applications.

Job Requirements:
• Applicant must be 18 years of age or older
• High School Diploma or equivalent achievement
• Applicant must possess a valid driver’s license
• Must have the ability to type 40 WPM
• Oral Interview
• Pass the Criti-Call pre-employment test (public safety telecommunications typing proficiency, multi-tasking, and comprehension)
• Complete a thorough background investigation
• Submit to a polygraph examination, psychological evaluations, drug screening and limited medical exam
Previous public safety dispatching experience is preferred, but not required.
As a condition of employment, new hires must be able to successfully complete; First Aide/CPR, 4- 6-months in-house training, attend a 40-hour Communications basic program at the Wyoming Law Enforcement Academy and obtain Emergency Medical Dispatch Certification within two years of employment. Lateral candidates may transfer their certifications and challenge the state test if approved by Wyoming POST.
