👀 Have you spotted a collared moose in Haines, Gustavus, or Berners Bay? Better yet—does she have a calf with her? We want to know!
Biologists track calf survival during the first year of life through observations. Typically, this is done by flying over collared female moose that can be located through the unique radio signals their collars emit. But when the weather gets nasty and we can't fly, your observations become valuable to our research.
If you see a collared cow moose, report your sighting to Hannah Manninen at [email protected]. Photos are especially helpful, or you can report the color and number on the collar.
Your wildlife sighting could help us better understand moose calf survival.
