Today, we honor the memory of Officer Ronald Tarentino, who was killed in the line of duty 10 years ago today. Our thoughts and prayers are with his friends and family, as well as our brothers and sisters in blue at the Auburn MA Police Department. 💙

10 years ago today, life changed in a way we never would have expected. We knew the dangers police officers face, but you don’t ever expect the worst to happen until it did. Ron was taken from us far too soon, while he was doing a job he loved and worked so hard for. It seems almost impossible that 10 years have gone by already. To say he is missed tremendously would be an understatement.
It is important to us to continue the legacy he left behind and live the way he would want and the way that he would - with love, humor, compassion and by giving back.
Through the Officer Ronald Tarentino, Jr. Charitable Fund, we have been able to continue his story and his work of giving a helping hand, thanks to all of the continued support.
We cannot stress enough how incredibly grateful we are for the ways in which our communities still show up and honor Ron and support his legacy, our mission, and our family. Whether you’re new here or have been on this journey with us from the beginning, we THANK YOU.
In honor of Ron, we only ask for you to share your kindness with those around you, you never know who will need it💙

With love and gratitude,

The Tarentino Family
and the Officer Ronald Tarentino, Jr. Charitable Fund Board

Earlier this week, we had a very sweet surprise at the department! Allie stopped by to drop off homemade baked goods for our officers, and it absolutely made our day!

Acts of kindness like this mean more than words can express and remind us how fortunate we are to serve such a supportive community.

Thank you for your thoughtfulness, generosity, and for taking the time to brighten our shift. We appreciate you!

Today marks our intern Mackenna’s last day with us, as her internship comes to a close. We would like to thank her for all of the hard work and dedication she has shown to us.

Over the past several months, Mackenna has had the opportunity to learn about the many different aspects of law enforcement and public service while working alongside members of our department. Her positive attitude, professionalism, and willingness to learn made her a valued part of our team.

We wish her continued success in college and in all future endeavors.

Thank you for being part of our department — we know you have a bright future ahead!

We would like to recognize Douglas High School seniors Maddie Greenough and Nicole Hribar, on the completion of their 2026 Senior Project.

With guidance from their mentor, School Resource Officer Brett Fulone, and some valuable insight from Douglas Police Chief Nick Miglionico, Douglas Adult Social Center Director Patrice Rousseau, and Douglas Fire Department Deputy Chief Kelly Manning, the girls created an informational form for families of senior citizens, developmentally disabled relatives, and/or those suffering from dementia or Alzheimer’s, or anyone else who is at risk of walking away, wandering, or is prone to becoming disoriented or lost on their own.

The form is meant to collect information about that person which can then be shared with the proper authorities during a search to return that person home safely. Both girls will be graduating on May 29th. Maddie will be attending Russell Sage College in the fall and plans to study Forensic Psychology, while Nicole will be attending the University of Rhode Island and plans to pursue a business degree. We wish both girls the best of luck and much success!!

******PRESS RELEASE******

At approximately 4:45 AM on Tuesday, May 5th, 3 masked men broke into a residence in Douglas while the occupants were sleeping and stole a dirt bike out of the attached garage. Shortly after the break one of the suspects was captured on a Flock camera driving the dirt bike with a vehicle following directly behind it. The vehicles license plate was also captured and came back registered out of Worcester.

Further investigation indicated that the registered owner of the vehicle had ties to Webster. With the assistance of the Webster Police Department Massachusetts, surveillance was conducted throughout the day and a search warrant was executed at a Webster apartment building, where the dirt bike was located. The suspects were not present at the apartment when the dirt bike was recovered.

On Thursday, May 7th, at approximately 5:00 PM, the Webster Police located and stopped
the suspected vehicle used in the crime. As a result of the stop, Webster Police arrested the
registered owner, Angelo Cruz, for Receiving Stolen Property (Dirt Bike). A second search warrant was executed that evening where evidence was located linking Cruz to the house break and theft of the dirt bike. As a result of the search, Cruz was also charged with unlawful possession of a Firearm, unlawful possession of Ammunition, Improper Storage of a Firearm, and Reckless Endangerment of a Child.

In addition to the above listed charges, Cruz is also being charged by the Douglas Police with Breaking and Entering in the Night Time
and Larceny of a Motor Vehicle (Dirt Bike). The investigation remains open and ongoing at this time.

We would like to thank the Webster Police Department for all the assistance they provided over the course of this
investigation.
