What an amazing turnout at our End of School Bash today!

We want to thank everyone who came out and helped make the event such a success. It was great seeing families, students, and community members enjoying the games, activities, food, and spending time with our officers before summer officially kicks off.

We also had plenty of hotdogs handed out throughout the event, and a special thank you to the Coffee County Sheriff's Office for coming out and handing out ice cream to the kids; it was definitely a favorite in the heat!

We appreciate the continued support from our community and hope everyone has a safe and fun summer break! 🖤💙🖤

Traffic Tip Tuesday

Road work zones are everywhere, and safety starts with slowing down and staying alert. When you see workers, cones, flashing lights, or signs:

-Slow down and follow posted speed limits
-Stay off your phone and avoid distractions
-Leave extra space between vehicles
-Watch for sudden lane shifts or stopped traffic
-Be patient; those workers are someone’s family too

Work zones can change quickly, and one careless moment can lead to a serious crash. Help keep our road crews, officers, and drivers safe by staying focused behind the wheel.

Drive smart. Slow down. Stay alert.

The Douglas Police Department honors and remembers the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country. Their courage, dedication, and selflessness will never be forgotten.

As we gather with family and friends, we also encourage everyone to travel safely, obey traffic laws, and make responsible decisions on the road.

Please take a moment today to reflect on the true meaning of Memorial Day and remember those who gave everything for our freedom.

Today, members of the Douglas Police Department had a great time visiting Satilla Elementary School and spending time with the 4th grade class!

Sgt. West and Cpt. Whitley spoke with the students about the importance of making good choices, respecting others, and building positive relationships within the community. After the discussion, they joined the students for a fun game of kickball!

We always appreciate opportunities like these to connect with our youth, encourage positive interactions, and show students that we are here to support them both in and out of the classroom. Thank you to the staff and students at Satilla Elementary for welcoming us today!

The Douglas Police Department is joining the Georgia Governor's Office of Highway Safety and law enforcement agencies across the state for the “Click It or Ticket” campaign running May 18 through May 31.

Seat belts save lives. Whether you’re driving across town or heading out for the Memorial Day weekend, make sure everyone in your vehicle is properly buckled up before you hit the road.

During this campaign, officers will be actively enforcing Georgia’s seat belt and child passenger safety laws. Don’t risk a ticket, and more importantly, don’t risk your life.

-Buckle up every trip, every time
-Make sure children are in the proper safety seat
-Put distractions away and focus on the road
-Drive safe and obey all traffic laws

A seat belt takes seconds to put on, but it can save your life in a crash.
